It's like a bigger tree: It takes longer but it comes down the same way.

Cheers,

After reading the articles I became interested in the role of the tripeptide glutathione. DMF activates its production, but this may be limited by the availability of cysteine. The following article indicates that supplementing cysteine can reduce pasi scores.

Psoriasis Improvement in Patients Using Glutathione-enhancing, Nondenatured Whey Protein Isolate: A Pilot Study

I have ordered some l-cysteine, which I will take at the rate of 1.5 grams per day. My hope is that the cysteine will increase the effectiveness of the DMF and allow me to reduce the total dosage. Here's hoping!

Cheers,

Bill

It is used by bodybuilders, so it is readily available. I believe that it gets made from hair clippings and feathers. It might even have gastrointestinal side effects. Double yuk! The question is will it do anything to raise GSH levels and will this have an effect on my psoriasis?.

Here's to bananas and curry!

An update. It is seven days since my last dose of DMF. I stopped dosing myself as I felt fatigued and started getting a sore throat. A mild cold developed by the end of the week, so I wont be taking another dose of DMF before the end of this week. The p and psa have not returned as aggressively as I had expected, and only a single dose of Naprosyn and paracetamol has been taken, although I am very happy to take further analgesics if needed. The cysteine may be working, although its anti-inflammatory action would be mild if anything. I am taking just under a gram twice daily; More than this and I start getting gastric reflux. My PASI has increased slightly to around 0.2.

While stopping the DMF is uncomfortable, it does show me how much reduction there has been in my disease. I look forward to resuming my treatment and remain very optimistic of further progress.

Cheers,

Bill
