Hemp Hand Oil - anyone tried it?

Hello Folks

I'm a 'newbie' and at some point soon will probably bore you all rigid with my own story!! But at the moment a query...I have palmar plantar psoriais (isn't it funny that something so horrid can sound so posh?!) which I'm having difficulty in getting under control, it first being diagnosed in 2009. My husband came back from The Body Shop the other day with some dropper bottles of a new product, Hemp Hand Oil. I've heard that hemp oil can be good for psoriasis but wondered if anyone had tried it and is it any good? I'm desperate to wean myself off the Dovobet and Elocon (I refuse to take tablets because of the side effects) and anything that will help alleviate the problems would be really helpful.

I must admit I've not heard of this. so I did a Google search and there does seem to be a lot of information about it, and you would be wise to shop around for prices. however being the sceptic that I am I looked at Wikipedia and found the following.

Hempseed oil is pressed from the seed of the hemp (cannabis) plant irrespective of the strain of cannabis. Cold pressed, unrefined hemp oil is dark to clear light green in color, with a pleasant nutty flavor. The darker the color, the grassier the flavour.

Refined hempseed oil is clear and colorless, with little flavour and lacks natural vitamins and antioxidants. Refined hempseed oil is primarily used in body care products. Industrial hempseed oil is used in lubricants, paints, inks, fuel, and plastics. Hempseed oil has found some limited use in the production of soaps, shampoos and detergents. The oil is of high nutritional value because its 3:1 ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 essential fatty acids, which matches the balance required by the human body. It has also received attention in recent years as a possible feedstock for the large-scale production of biodiesel. There are a number of organisations that promote the production and use of hempseed oil.

Hempseed oil is manufactured from varieties of Cannabis sativa that do not contain significant amounts of THC, the psychoactive element present in the cannabis plant. This manufacturing process typically includes cleaning the seed to 99.99% before pressing the oil. There is no THC within the hempseed, although trace amounts of THC may be found in hempseed oil when plant matter adheres to the seed surface during manufacturing. The modern production of hempseed oil, particularly in Canada, has successfully lowered THC values since 1998.

About 30–35% of the weight of hempseed is an edible oil that contains about 80% as essential fatty acids (EFAs); i.e., linoleic acid, omega-6 (LA, 55%), alpha-linolenic acid, omega-3 (ALA, 22%), in addition to gamma-linolenic acid, omega-6 (GLA, 1–4%) and stearidonic acid, omega-3 (SDA, 0–2%).

The proportions of linoleic acid and alpha-linolenic acid in one tablespoon per day (15 ml) of hempseed oil easily provides human daily requirements for EFAs. Unlike flaxseed oil, hempseed oil can be used continuously without developing a deficiency or other imbalance of EFAs. This has been demonstrated in a clinical study, where the daily ingestion of flaxseed oil decreased the endogenous production of GLA.

In common with other oils, hempseed oil provides 9 kcal/g. Compared with other culinary oils it is low in saturated fatty acids.

Highly unsaturated oils, and especially poor quality oils, can spontaneously oxidize and turn rancid within a short period of time when they are not stored properly; i.e., in a cool/cold, dark place, preferably in a dark glass bottle. Hempseed oil can be frozen for longer periods of storage time. Preservatives (antioxidants) are not necessary for high quality oils that are stored properly.

Hempseed oil has a relatively low smoke point and is not suitable for frying. Hempseed oil is primarily used as a food oil and dietary supplement, and has been shown to relieve the symptoms of eczema (atopic dermatitis).

I couldn't find any unbiased evidence about it's use with Psoriasis, but its 3:1 ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 essential fatty acids, matches the balance required by the human body.

Looks like you have nothing to loose by trying it and seeing how it goes. please keep us updated on this thread if you do decide to use it as it may help others.

I've tried 2 different hemp lotions I really like them, they smell nice, but tend to be more expensive, and at the rate I go through it they are more of a when-i-have-the-money kind of treat. I also got some organic pressed hemp oil off ebay. I bought it along with some castor oil and was thinking of making some kind of super mixture of hemp oil, olive oil, castor oil and maybe tea tree oil, to see if it did anything but haven't gotten around to wearing it enough to notice a difference since it's not exactly something I would put on if I planned on going out in public.

I use all the hemp lotions and it does wonders for my skin!
The body shop always has offers on the hemp products so although there pricey, I found they have worked so well for me! I hope you have the same success!

Just started using Hemp with Argan oil
It takes the redness out of my spots.
I generally do not use lotions that have propylparaben or any lengthy word that I cannot roll off my tongue instantaneously.

Yes, I've tried the hemp body butter from the Body Shop. I've had moderate success with the body butter.

I've had more success with hemp hearts. They seem to 'fix me' from the inside out.

For me, the Hemp Hearts are still doing their thing.

My psoriasis has been largely in check for a few months now. I attribute it to the hemp hearts.

The biggest improvement for me was the soles of my feet. The annoying, limp producing cracks are all but gone. The redness has improved dramatically, too.

Every morning I have an English muffin with peanut butter and a healthy sprinkling of Hemp Hearts (a tablespoon, perhaps?).

I been drinking hemp oil for almost 2 months - 1 tsp AM 1 tsp PM
haven't noticed any significant improvements - but - I'm taking and applying
so many other treatments it would be hard to single out any one product.

I apply Coconut oil, coal tar cream ,and glycerin/witch hazel daily.

I ingest 1500 mg Black Cumin Seed oil AM and PM along with the Hemp Oil
and a 'tea' of infused American Saffron (Safflower).

I gave up alcohol -

I have had only 1 new plaque in the last month or two and the rest (only some 7-10
small ones) are gradually clearing.
