Maybe Krissie may know something on this.
Hopefully she will walk by one of these days.

Hey!

I get a small patch of guttate on my left hand from time to time (usally when I have had an infection of some sort) and it is generally triggered by bacterial infections such as strep throat. The antibiotics will help to reduce the inflammatory response of your body due to the infection and in time will lessen the guttate. Steer clear of any steroid based treatments for this type of psoriasis as those actually make the itching and weeping worse... If the itch drives you as insane as it drives me then apply hydrocortisone cream to sooth it a little, you could also try taking anti-histamines as I have found they sometimes help.

I would have replied sooner but I've been prepping for a holiday to Vegas tomorrow and up to my eyeballs at work since I have nobody to cover for me while I am away so needed to get as much done as I could so that I have an easy(ish) time when I get back.

Krissie

Thank you krissie! Smile It is good to know that the antibiotics will help in time. I'm not using any hydrocortisone cream at all and have started using a cream I bought yesterday called Dermalex which seems to have a nice moisturising effect on my skin.

The only thing is it is very expensive and I hope that it will work in getting rid of the spots! Has anyone else tried Dermalex?

I might try the anti-histamines but can i take them alongside the antibiotics?

Enjoy your trip to Vegas.

xx

My gp has also given me dermol for guttate psoriasis, think its more to help with the itching than anything. Im assuming the antibiotics are for your throat rather than to treat your skin.

I regularly get the Dermol 200, this is a shower gel type thing, it is usually because I cannot use soaps and perfumed products, as this plays havoc with the "P".
I get in on prescription but I think it is mainly to keep me moisturised in the shower.
And they do Dermol bath additive too.
Don't know if this helps
Best Regards
Micky

Thank you Mickey and Richard!Smile

The antibiotics were to treat my throat which is now betterThumb.
The doctor, a different doctor to last time has now prescribed me daktacort as i had a couple of inverse psoriasis patches as well which have healed with the daktacort.

I have been using the daktacort for 7 days now though so will have to stop using it.

I would like to use it sparingly on other small patches of skin in a weeks time to see if heals them up to. I don't want to put the cream all over as I know this bad and cortisone creams can't be used all over the body as it will affect the adrenal glands.

Has anyone had success using daktacort cream. And has it cleared up their psoriasis in time.

xx

Started to develop a rash about a week and a half ago, which started on the palm of my hands and then gradually spread to most other areas of my body. i thought it was excema to begin with as I have suffered with excema on and off for years.

But after making an appointment to see the doctor today he told me that it was guttate psoriasis.

He has given me Dermol cream to apply, oilatum for the bath and antibiotics, I have to take the antibiotics 2 tablets at a time 4 times a day, 8 tablets in total. this seems a lot of tablets, just wanted to know if anyone else who was first diagnosed was given this many tablets to take a day. They are penicillin.

Thank you

You have to watch about the anti-biotics as after awhile you can become resistant to them. Then later on when you really need them they won't work as well.
