I have been through most treatments and you are right it is a shitty condition I would always wear long sleeves to cover up ,but it's not so easy covering your face. Ask your dermatologist about methotrexate which is very effective although the day after taking the tablets I used to feel awful. I would mention Fumaderm to them they are not available from your GP
Yeah it's pretty shit, usually I'm really outgoing but finding myself talking to less and less people, to the point I don't really have any friends.
It's not so much having psoriasis that's the problem, I can deal with the constant itch and soreness.....I think it's how I feel everyone looks at me, hear then talking etc. feel like a lepper! That's what really gets me down, I feel so unattractive to my wife I can't even remember when the last time she saw my psoriasis.
So these tablets? Can anyone get them? Lol, defo better than lubing myself everyday for hours.
How long have you had it? And what's your thought on going out in public in a T-shirt? Does it bother you?
Ps. Do you have a shorthand way of writing psoriasis lol sick of writing it now ha ha
The last 3 or 4 years have been great for me the methotrexate worked brilliantly and apart from the transition from methotrexate to Fumaderm I have been able to enjoy swimming and beach life like never before. The hoovering has been cut to normal, I am now able to wear dark shirts and jackets without looking like I had just come in from a snow storm.
I think the tabs are now becoming more available in the UK worth a chat with dermatologist. Tell them of your despair most of them realise that the psychological side of the condition is as important as treating the symptoms. I used to go to the hospital training school to show students what p looked like and tell them about the impact it had on life. I was able to get good advice from the tutors and one of them pointed me towards Fumaderm . Now when they ask me to go I have refuse as I have nothing to show. Hope to chat more.
