Hi everyone,

I am John Redfern, 34, living with psoriasis for 20 years now, but last 2 have been more or less psoriasis free (or I should say under control).

I would like to tell people how I have gotten it under control and it is basically as follows

1. Cut out the crap food - no gluten, no sugar, no dairy, no nightshades.

2. Detox using the following colon cleanse method - Bentonite + Psyllium Husk drink. Also start taking an anti-fungal like Caprylic Acid 350 mg daily to kill any yeast overgrowth and add a probiotic to help your leaky gut heal.

3. Start taking Vitamin D3 daily along with either fish oil or turmeric supplements (both are highly anti -inflammatory)

4. Start drinking a raw vegetable shakes (1.5l over course of the day)

5. Start taking a Multi - digestive enzyme that includes Bethaine HCL before meals to break down your protein intake more efficiently

6. Use extra virgin coconut oil or jojoba oil as a moisturizer 3 times a day minimum

7. De-stress through one or all of the following; exercise, massages, acupuncture, meditation, yoga

8. Last but not least - Talk about it, don't bottle up your feelings and don't be embarrassed to tell people you have psoriasis. Everyone has their own problems, so your problem will be of little consequence to them.

Within 6 to 12 weeks you should see your skin turning pink and healing, you can cut back on the detox treatments and keep it under control by just taking a strong multivitamin daily and continue to moisturize with the jojoba oil twice a day. Just make sure you stick to the healthy diet.

Hi John and Welcome I wish I had the willpower to stick to a regime like that. Unfortunately my body craves for all the wrong foods.
I am glad you have been free of the dreaded scales for the last 2 years and wish you continued success and hope it helps others who are looking for alternatives to prescribed treatment when they read your formula

You are right it helps greatly to be open and talk about it although it took me years to openly admit I had it.
De stress I couldn't agree more but not to simple with modern living and everything moving so fast.
Thanks for coming and giving your advice based on your experience.
I hope to read more from you later Thumb

Hello John,

Welcome to the forum.

The experience you describe is more or less the approach of Charles, the guy who made the website howtobeatpsoriasis dot something.
I agree with Jim, this is a very heavy regime. Good to see that somebody else uses it, and to find that it works. This means overall that psoriasis and your total metabolism are heavily interacting.

@Jim, this is also the reason that your Fumaderm is working, it is able to repair part of your metabolism, done by the DMF.

Thanks Jiml, took me a few years to finally make the changes necessary, but so worth it.

@Caroline
It is from Charles site that I first started to use raw veggie juicing but I altered it to ensure I was getting the right nutrients (he includes fruit to flavour but I found fruit bad for me when my skin was in a severe state so excluded it as the natural sugars are inflammatory).

I found that it stopped my psoriasis spreading and drastically improved my nail psoriasis, made my skin less aggressive but it didn't clear my skin. It was only when I added the detox regime, and the extra supplements I mentioned above that I began to see pink skin and finally some great clearance.

It was through tons of research from sites like Charles, other personal triumphs documented online, existing well known psoriasis diet plans and my own trial and error, that I found the combo that works for me.

I actually am able to drink some gin and tonics now with little to no side effect! However if I abuse my body, i.e start pushing it to the limit with stress, little sleep and too much gin, it makes an aggressive return.

Hello John Welcome to Psoriasis Club.

Most of what you mention is in the Natural Treatments Board you can find it here: Natural Treatments For Psoriasis

1. Cut out the crap food - no gluten, no sugar, no dairy, no nightshades.
No Thanks: I love food to much. Rolleyes

2. Detox using the following colon cleanse method - Bentonite + Psyllium Husk drink. Also start taking an anti-fungal like Caprylic Acid 350 mg daily to kill any yeast overgrowth and add a probiotic to help your leaky gut heal.
No Thanks: I believe in letting your body do it's own thing. Smile

3. Start taking Vitamin D3 daily along with either fish oil or turmeric supplements (both are highly anti -inflammatory)
One should get vitamins in their diet and not rely on supplements in my opinion.

4. Start drinking a raw vegetable shakes (1.5l over course of the day)
No Thanks: Water is fine, but Merlot even better. Big Grin

5. Start taking a Multi - digestive enzyme that includes Bethaine HCL before meals to break down your protein intake more efficiently
Taking another supplement no thanks. NoNo

6. Use extra virgin coconut oil or jojoba oil as a moisturizer 3 times a day minimum
Yay we agree, I'm a huge fan of Coconut Oil Thumb

7. De-stress through one or all of the following; exercise, massages, acupuncture, meditation, yoga
Agree again removing stress should be at the top of your list, but count me out of the exercise bit. Wink

8. Last but not least - Talk about it, don't bottle up your feelings and don't be embarrassed to tell people you have psoriasis. Everyone has their own problems, so your problem will be of little consequence to them.
Again you are right the more you talk about it the easier it is to cope, I love reading the positive comments from members of Psoriasis Club saying how the forum has helped them.

Well all in all not bad for me 3/8, as you can tell it's not for me and I've seen to many scams out there where people are making money from these suggestions, but good luck to you.

Regards.

Fred.

I agree with the extra vitamins. I have the impression that this slightly worst. Also avoiding fungi is for me personally important. My intestines react heavily to e.g. champignons.

And of course, opposed to Fred, exercise !!!! I like that very much and it helps me staying flexible.

Just shows how we are all different and what works for some in the natural approach can't possibly work for others. You can't use mushrooms but they are very good for your immune system and thus would help psoriasis.

I understand, but you don't have to do it all at once, plus once you get the digestive system back in working order and the p under control, you can start introducing these foods in moderation again with limited reactions (that's what is happening to me anyways )

Smile

Using this was a big turning point for me. Maybe its because it also forced me to drink 3l of water a day but for once in my life I actually felt like I had expelled everything and in jiffytime! (I don't want to get too graphic :-)) I used to suffer from terrible piles as well which are no longer an issue.

3. Start taking Vitamin D3 daily along with either fish oil or turmeric supplements (both are highly anti -inflammatory)
One should get vitamins in their diet and not rely on supplements in my opinion.

Yes I agree, but out of all the 3 above sunshine/Vitamin D3 is essential. Getting your vitamin d3 levels checked is definitely worth looking into.

NoNo

I only had to take this for a few weeks and had to stop as it seemed to have rectified my enzyme imbalance. Also got rid of a stubborn patch on my hip.

6. Use extra virgin coconut oil or jojoba oil as a moisturizer 3 times a day minimum
Yay we agree, I'm a huge fan of Coconut Oil Thumb

I would not be a happy camper if I couldn't get my hands on the coconut oil!

7. De-stress through one or all of the following; exercise, massages, acupuncture, meditation, yoga

I've been thinking a lot about this lately too. I think taking control of your life, i.e. change in job, taking up a hobby, creating goals to help avoid stress triggers is another viable option to lowering those stress levels, so not all options are exercise related ;-)

8. Last but not least - Talk about it, don't bottle up your feelings and don't be embarrassed to tell people you have psoriasis. Everyone has their own problems, so your problem will be of little consequence to them.

I have bought one of those ebooks, spot free in 30 days or whatever the f**k it is called. Scumbags period.

Thanks for the welcome Fred,

John Redfern

Hi John Welcome to Psoriasis Forum.

I'm fairly new too but thanks to friendly people here I've got my scalp under control with tgel and tea tree oil. Now that I don't itch that much anymore I have more time hanging out in the Off Topic thread calming Fred and Jim down.

Welcome and happy new year to you

Cheers
Weenona
