Welcome to the club. Sorry I can't help with info on guttate psoriasis either. I have used steroid creams however I don't recall being told to ease off them gently. I know with oral steroids you reduce the dosage gradually but I never really thought about it with topicals. I currently use a steroid ointment as needed. I do know that long term use of a topical steroid has it's own set of concerns. I think if I were you I'd discuss your concerns with your doctor and see what he/she says about it. If it doesn't have a lasting effect perhaps they need to consider something else? Whether you stay on your current treatment or something else I'd ask about maintenance as well.
