Yes you should get a referral to a dermatologist. They are better suited to treating you and you have the right in the UK, unfortunately you may have to push it depending on your postcode lottery.
But yes you must get inverse treated properly. No offence to your nursing practitioner, but she is not the right person to be treating you. So go and demand an appointment with a dermatologist, the sooner you get there the sooner you will get proper relief.
