Hi folks. Just about to start the "big boy" tablets i.e. 120mg and at this moment i feel quite sick on my present dose. I get occasional hot flush but nothing i cant handle. One good thing I'm  losing weight coz I dont have an appetite. But don't  really want to carry on feeling yuck. Any suggestions  Confused

Hi Audrey shame you're feeling yuk on the tablets is it constant or just for a short time a few hours after you take them .
I must be honest and say they never made me feel sick... You are taking them with food and plenty of fluid aren't you?
Caroline has suggested yoghurt as a way to coat your stomach whilst the tablet goes through to your intestines where it does it's work ... My only side effects were stomach/ intestinal cramps which at the start were quite severe but didn't last long about 30 minutes to an hour and then subsided and the flushes lasted about the same.
What time of day are you taking them ? Although it shouldn't matter.... I'm wondering if you're getting sickness instead of cramps try taking them in the middle of your meals
I hope it's just a blip or have you felt like it for a while?
Is the psoriasis going yet?
Are you about to start on one 120mg tablet a day? Or 2

Take my advice; I don't use it anyway.

Hi and thanks for your reply.
I must admit that I haven't been drinking as much as i should with these tablets and because I feel yuk not been eating an awful lot either. Maybe i should start forcing myself to eat and drink more.
I do have this nauseated feeling a lot of the day but it does come and go. I take my tablets at breakfast, lunch and dinner time.
I am starting on 120mg once a day tomorrow + the 30mg tabs as instructed. So am a bit apprehensive but need to give it a go. Psoriasis isn't improving much yet. ?. Oh well lets see what tomorrow brings.

Hi Audrey
I imagine it is the lack of food and fluid that is giving the yuk effect
When you say you are taking the 120mg + the 30mg tablets do you mean all the tablets now once a day or are you taking them speed through the day?
Whatever you are doing have a little food and drink and take the tablets.... Continue eating and drinking
You should feel better if you can do this can you just tell me what dose you are on I know you're on one 120mg tablet but how many initial are you still taking ?
Sorry to ask so many things I'm just trying to get a picture in my head

I'm sure that will improve your symptoms and hopefully you will be able to stick to the regime.
It's up to your doctors but I would be inclined to take the lunch time ones together with the evening tablets, ask you doctor if he agrees.  Then you will have some side effects while you sleep ..... But get medical advice first

Hi Audrey,

I think I recognize the feeling you describe. We have a great word for it called "misselijk". It think that is about what you feel and yes, I have that also some times. Can't remember if that was in the beginning of the treatment, but I still have it regularly. It feels if food didn't fall right in your belly. Under normal circumstances it would be a sign that you get sick, but in this case you won't. It will pass by and you will not get sick. Only the feeling is there.
I have a rather blunt way of dealing with it. I just ignore it. As I know it belongs to the treatment and it is not harmful in any way, just annoying, and I don't like annoying things so I ignore.

Second point. Yes it may be that you don't see much yet. DMF is a slow burner, it will take a while. Just keep continuing. The fact that you have flushes is the best sign that your body is reacting so in some way the medicine is working.

I hope Bill will kick in with his experiences. @Bill, can you give a reaction please?

Cheers,
Caroline
