Caroline is using Psorinovo which is similar to Fumaderm but I will leave her to tell you the difference, but if you want some more reading till she logs back in she has a very good thread that explains more here: Dimethylfumarates and Psoriasis

Hello Aubrey,

The working ingredient we are speaking about is DMF, dimethylfumarate.
Fumaderm and Psorinovo (my medication) both contain DMF as the working ingredient.
Fumaderm is a so called combination preparate. It contains monoethylfumarate and Dimethylfumarate, and a number of salts that are in there to protect the stomach. I don't really know if it is really enteric coated. (Jim, do you know that?)

Psorinovo was developed about 20 years ago. It only contains dimethylfumarate. It is enteric coated, therefore it will not fall apart in the stomach, so the problem of stomach cramps is skipped, AND it is slow release, the DMF in Psorinovo will be released in the intestines gradually, which prevents problems in the intestines.
Because of this approach the total dose is relatively unlimited, where the max dose of Fumaderm is 6x120 mg.
in fact it is the same as what Bill is using but then with enteric coating slow release.
So it also does not matter when I take the medication.

It is available in the Netherlands. As far as I know it can be ordered and than will be sent to anywhere in the world, as there are brochures in different languages.

Cheers Smile,
Caroline

And dancing on the table? Dance

Good to hear you're feeling better. Bigarm

I just thought of pointing Audrey to your thread as I thought you may still be a bit poorly and it would give her something to read till you got better.

But now you're sounding better, I think I should hide up as once you've seen some of mine and Jims posts we could be in trouble. Angel

Oops sorry going a bit off topic I'll shut up now. Rolleyes

Hi Caroline,

I have thought about using an enteric coated capsule, but it would spoil my 13 cent per four day treatment cost, and that just wouldn't do. Interestingly I didn't get any flushes until I started taking 600 mg doses, and they are more intense with 800 mg doses. Like you, I associate the flushes with the efficacy of the drug.

Cheers,

Bill

Ha ha out of the question it would almost double your cost I suspect
On just 360mg my flushes are very minor and no cramps

Hi Jim,

Using enteric coated capsules, my cost would roughly triple to about 10 cents per day, but if the side effects were bad enough I guess I would do it. I just spent nearly $4000 treating one of my toy poodles with tick paralysis, so the cost savings have come in handy.

Cheers,

Bill

85 If you keep on going like that, than shortly you will be able to buy a motorcycle from the cost savings.. Wink
