Here I can phone the nurse to come from the laboratory, she takes the blood and the next day or two at most the results arrive in my post box. My dermatologist and GP also get a copy.

The doctor gives you a prescription and the laboratory fill your prescription just like a parmacie would, it's independent of the hospital and also used by Vets too.

Sounds like a good idea Fred ...
I stopped going to the hospital for blood tests as it was difficult to get the results, at present I go to my local GPs surgery and the Nurse takes my blood for analysis and sends it to the hospital ...where they are turned round in a couple of hours and the results emailed to Dermatology and my GP the same day .......
From the letter I received it seems the results aren't looked at by Dermatology for ages before they get in touch
Another thing thats  happened is my 6 monthly appointment that was meant to be the end of October has been put back 3 times now and I'm not due to be seen now until the end of February ....it's not a problem as I self monitor ...just as well I do and have a GP that I can talk to ....

Had a blood test this morning
This evening my GP phoned telling me my lymphocyte count was up to 1.48 So my drop in blood count was due to the infection I had .... dropping my Fumaderm to 4 tablets a day probably wasn’t necessary... but I’ll stay on 4 a day as my arthritis and Psoriasis still seems ok
A good result Big Grin

Great result, Jim. Are you sure that the low result was not from a testing error? It seems out of place.

Cheers

I don’t think it was an error I was feeling awful when I had the low blood test
I’ve got the rest of the results now and there are changes in other readings I’ll put them in a table a bit later

It would be quite a coincidence if the time I had a bad infection they made a mistake with the count

You have had your lymphocytes halve then double in the space of 6 weeks. A faulty test would make more sense. At least you will keep a close watch on it, Jim.

Cheers

Jim,
Can you describe what kind of infection this was?
Was it a heavy cold or something?
