Hello, so im a 20 year old male that last December started having a little spot of dandruff in my eyebrow. Eventually it developed and i had dandruff at my hairline and very much of both my eyebrows/right above them. At the time i could just scrape it off and my face would be totally clean.

Then i started getting a rash around and underneath it, my skin was red and itchy and sometimes started to produce some form of liquid when i picked the flakes. It also spread to 2 small spots on either side of my nose and one directly on my nose right between the nostrils.

I haven't been to a dermatologist yet, because of horrific waiting lists. But i have been to 2 different doctors a few times, and now they both seem to think it is psoriasis while early on it was treated as sebborheic dermatitis.
Im just so lost and confused, im tired of it getting worse and worse every day and my doctor seems to not care at all.

I was prescribed something called Locoid, which is some clear liquid that burns when i apply it. First time i used it for about a week and it cleared my face completely, i was so happy (this was before they told me it could be psoriasis) but then it came back and now it seems the Locoid is barely working and my face just gets worse and worse.

I still have 2 months till i can see a dermatologist and my own doctor just tells me to apply the Locoid more than i have been. Im starting university in a week and i maybe im weak but i really can't stand the thought of going there with my face so disgusting. Anyone here had a similar start and had any luck with some form of treatment? I've also had alot of fungal infections in my armpits, and private area during the last few years if that could have any connection.

I've not heard of many good results from using Locoid and the following information from the list of precautions may be of interest to you.

It sounds like you have a useless doctor in my opinion and it could be time to look for another. The treatment of Psoriasis has moved on a lot in the past few years, and it sounds like your doctor has forgot to keep up to date with the times.

Unfortunately you have a long wait to see a dermatologist, so if you can't get another doctor for the moment it could be worth giving Dexeryl a try if you can get it in Denmark as it's perfect for sensitive areas of your body, or maybe ask your doctor for Silkis.

Re starting University. It's not weak of you to worry, I'm sure most of the newbies will have something to worry about. You're young and obviously your appearance is important to you, but if you can try to be more positive it will help as stress can make psoriasis worse. Yes I know it's easy for an old geezer like me to say that, but if you have a friend or can find a new one at Uni that you can talk to about psoriasis you will find it helps a huge amount.

It's very difficult when you first get psoriasis and it can knock your confidence, but just be yourself and people will accept you for who you are not what you look like. And if they don't, then to be honest those people aren't worth knowing anyway.

You're not alone, have a read through some threads to see others experiences and don't be afraid to jump in. You will find us a friendly bunch who understand, and we don't care what you look like.

Thanks for the replies, my doctor told me today to bump up to 3 times of locoid a day for two weeks and then contact him again. Now i don't want to do that if it could have negative effects.
Firstly, he prescribed me the Locoid to treat seborrheic dermatitis but now that he thinks its psoriasis he has not changed anything. Im just afraid of trying a bunch of different things before seeing a dermatologist, but since theres 2 months and im flaring up pretty bad right now it will kill me to wait so long and do nothing.

I'm pretty sensitive about this, and it's honestly very hard to get used to my face looking like this, i guess time will help with that tho. My biggest fear is that it will get worse. I started with one spot, then two, then three and so on. Currently as i said its only my eyebrows, mid nose and two spots on the side + hairline and around the scalp. I can live with this, both in flare ups and when it's pretty calm. But im so scared that it will continue to grow worse and by the time i get an experts opinion my face will be much worse than now.

Hello Pantic try not to let it get you down. luckily psoriasis never seems so bad on the face, and if you can live with what you have at the moment you are doing well. Keep your face well miosterised at least twice a day, it will help.

In my opinion you could also try to get an appointment with a reumatologist of a doctor for internal diseases, as when it really appears to be psoriasis then you will be dealing with an auto immune disease that in its base has nothing to do with a skin disease. Treating the skin is then only treating the appearance and not the disease itself.

Interesting that you are from Denmark. That means that you may be in the range of treatment with dymethylfumarates, as they are more regularly used in Germany.

Hey, I understand your frustration, ive had psoriasis since I was about 7, im now 20. ) I was covered in psoriasis and the first few doctors I saw were absolutely useless and gave me things that made my skin worse. ( I'm actually on injections now.)
I used to have little patches by my eyes and my scalp used to be covered ( it looked like I had dandruff) and I still have a patch behind my ear.
All I can suggest is keep pushing until the doctors hear you, but for now to soothe the symptoms, moisturise, moisturise, moisturise! I find aloe moisturiser really helps (plus aloe is supposed to have healing stuff in it. Maybe even try aloe juice? . Elizabeth arden 8 hour cream i find helps and the sun can also help ( although dont get burnt it can make it worse) and I know this really is easier said than done but try not to stress as stress can make it worse. I know it can seem like the end of the world but it isn't a life threatening illness. You'll be suprised at how understanding people can be if you just explain to them what it is (don't get me wrong some can be jerks) but at the end of the day it is just a build up of skin due to a fault in our immune system.
