I just developed Sebopsoriasis for the first time ever in the last 40 yrs i have never had to deal with it but typical plaque psoriasis on elbows and knees. Has anyone else had a major flare up this year?

Welcome Hitech 70,

If you look around the pages of Fred's site, you will find that there are a great many presentations and courses of the disease. The fortunate thing about having psoriasis these days is that there are a great many effective treatments. However, in order to access most of them you will need to consult a dermatologist or a rheumatologist. If you are already doing this I apologise for telling you how to suck eggs, but I say it because it is a crucial action for anyone with severe disease.

My psoriasis started suddenly in my early twenties with perhaps 1% of my skin affected. It had a fluctuating response to topical treatments. It gradually spread and became more severe. PSA joined in by my early thirties. By my mid forties I had severe P and PSA. At this point I had 30 to 40% body coverage. On commencing systemic therapy I eliminated 90% of my disease within a few months, and it has been in decline ever since. In hindsight I think psoriasis a disease that you should hit hard and quickly.

You will find very kind and helpful people here.

Cheers,

Bill

Hi and  Welcome to the club, I'm sorry to hear that you are suffering with Sebopsoriasis is it your scalp that's affected or your face? Or another part of you ? A good starting point as you are using over the counter products is to look for shampoos and soaps that are paraben free  Parabens what I found out ! this thread explains parabens and why you should avoid them
My best suggestion is to see a dermatologist if you aren't already, they will give a diagnosis and should offer a treatment which could help with the flare up...depending on where it is and the severity, will probably determine the treatment you are offered
I have never had anything apart from just plain psoriasis and have managed to control that with tablets.

Enjoy the club you will find us a friendly group of sufferers happy to share experiences of what works and what doesn't  Thumb

Have a look through the prescribed treatments board Prescribed Treatments For Psoriasis it will tell you what is available currently

Good luck
Jim

Hello Hitech70 Welcome to Psoriasis Club.

I've not had it myself so couldn't advise. But I would agree with Bill, You need to see a dermatologist as over the counter products are not going to help much. If they do it won't last long.

Regards.

Fred.

Civilisation would not exist without a good set of rules, Fred. Not enough people realise the fact these days, and it does not seem to have support in schools either. The prevailing lunacy of public education in Oz would see a constitutional monarchy as being no better than a jungle tribe that boils up the newbies in a big pot.

Take my advice; I don't use it anyway.

Welcome!

For those, like me, who hadn't ever heard of sebopsoriasis, it's a combination of seborrhoeic dermatitis and psoriasis.

Since you are dealing with psoriasis, over the counter ointments may not help. But you say it's been 40 years since you've dealt with psoriasis? They've come a long way with treatments so I'd see a dermatologist if you haven't already as others have stated.
