Hi all,

I'm new here; have had psoriasis for 20 years but has gotten much much worse in the last 6 months. My dermatologist recommended me to try out Otezla. 
The manufacturer is offering it from free in Ireland at the moment - I think in hope that enough patients will see a benefit which will push the health service here to fund it properly. 

I'm only on day 6 and man oh man they weren't lying about the side effects some people feel on it - the headaches are extraordinary. 

Is there anyone else here who has taken it? Anyone have any stories about how to get through this phase of the treatment on it?

Matari was on it for a while. But I don't think it worked for him, I'm sure he will comment.

Welcome to Psoriasis Club by the way.  

I've been prescribed it for plaque psoriasis, I understand it has had better success at treating it than treating PA. 

I'd love it to work, I could be willing to suffer through a week or two of side effects while my body gets used it it if I knew the side effects would subside eventually!

Hi and    to the club as Fred has said there are not many in the club on the drug yet so it would be nice to hear how it works for you. It has not been embraced here in the uk as it has in The United States. So your input here could be useful to others

Good luck getting through the side effects, let's hope that you will be rewarded with a clear skin for putting up with them

We have an active off topic board which you are more than welcome to join in the activities there, it's just a place we can forget about psoriasis in the company of others with the disease

Hi - I've been taking it for about 10 weeks and so far absolutely no difference to my current flare-up - it is getting worse every day. The documentation says can take up to 6 months to clear so prepared to wait and see (well, I have no choice really - I've taken most stuff that I want to take).

Did you suffer from any of the side effects Brian? Nausea and headaches is all I've had so far but they've been quite bad.

Hi Brian and Thank you for joining and adding your experience, I'm sure yourself and Alittlenonsence will be able to help each other on the journey with otezla . This might be a good time to start a thread of your own on the prescribed treatments board where you are more likely to be spotted and you can keep it up to date with your progress
It's not compulsory, just carry on as you are if you wish... We are a friendly bunch and like to welcome newcomers to this special place

Welcome to Psoriasis club.
That is the only thing I have now. I don't have experience with Otezla.
But of course if the side effects would become unbearable, you should consider quitting. There are other treatments.
