OK! it has been suggested I start a thread about my Acitretin journey!!.. This is my back now its not as bad as it was because i had just come out of the sun and sea!!!!!I started the medication on Tuesday 18/8/15!  I will post another picture in a few weeks!!   I hope this is of some help to others starting out on this road!!

Thanks Fingers that will be helpful to be able to follow your journey and for you as a reference to see the difference, as it is often difficult to be sure if things are changing but this way it will become obvious

Well done Fingers for sharing, it takes courage for some to post their private journey. If you can encourage others or at least let people know there are people like you who understand, you will find it rewarding to know you have helped.

Thanks Fred!  i did agonise wether to put up the picture!!....but i spent the day on the beach and stopped worying what people thought!!! Im thick skinned i guess!!!..lol...pun intended!!!

Thanks Caroline! i will post a picture after evry derm visit!!!....oh and yes!!!!...lol

Glad you put up a picture, it will help you to know how well the Acitretin works for you as you will have a comparison. I know that for me, the first few weeks I didn't notice any change, it wasn't until around 6 weeks that I started to notice a difference and then (in my case) it improved quickly. So if you don't notice a lot of improvement at first, don't despair!

And you don't have to be self conscious here with pictures, that's what is great about being here, people understand. (plus Fred will hunt down anyone that tries to use a picture from here and I wouldn't want to be them!)

Thanks for the reply Kat!  I have been on Acitretin for just over 2 weeks now! I haven't noticed much change except maybe the patches are a little flatter!!....but like you say its early days yet and at least I have no side affects at all...yet!!!! :-)  I have a dermatologist appointment in 4 weeks so I will take another picture to compare as it will be 6 weeks by then!!!!
I am not too self conscious at the moment because I guess I am lucky nothing shows when I am fully clothed!!!!! :-)

I hope you get good results from the Acitretin. I may have had some mild side effects like dryer lips and a bit more hair showing up on the brush than normal, but it's hard to say as I was looking for them. I was also on UV treatments during the time I took Acitretin. My dermatologist gave me the okay to come off of it and see how it goes. So far, so good. I do have some small patches but currently am using topicals to help. Nice to know I can go back on it if needed though.

I do worry about my hair!!!....I keep looking in the shower!!!.... Vanity eh!!!.....I still use dovobet on any small patches!.... and  the lotion on my scalp!! and my face
