I have been on a regimen of 0.8 ml MTX (20mg/ml) weekly to control my plaque Psoriasis. It has been wonderful and basically left me symptom free for 4 yrs . Recently I have noticed some recurrence of scalp issues....
I have monitoring labs every 8 wks, and all has remained "normal".
Anyone have any info on relapse in the face of ongoing treatment?

Hi and    to the forum, I'm sure you will get answers to this question from some of our members, but myself I can't help, as I gave up on methotrexate before it stopped working, I was on 10x2.5mg tablets when I changed treatments because I couldn't handle the side effects I was getting.

So firstly can you think of anything that may have triggered it... For instance a stressful occurance or bad throat infection, as they are among the many things that can trigger an episode.

Or if not have you considered raising your dose to gain control again ( check with your dermatologist before you do that)
That's all I can think of at present but look through the Heath boards or put Methotrexate in the search facility at the top of the page and see what comes up.

Many of our members are from Europe and you are not likely for them to see your post till morning, but may well hear from other parts of the world......meantime make yourself comfortable, and check out the rest of the forum or visit the off topic boards where members often linger and enjoy a joke together or just to chat if you wish

I just had a quick look and we have several members who are listed here as taking methotrexate, but the general rule I believe is that as methotrexate is a cheap but effective drug, and it is usually that one they start with,  and when you fail on that you move to the next line of treatment such as Acetretin or cyclosporine or here in the UK and Europe fumaderm or psorinovo ( which aren't available in the U.S. Which is where I assume NH is... ) And the treatments after those then escalate in cost to the biological drugs

You may be at the stage where it's time to move on to the next step, it's just my thoughts and I may be wrong, and it's just a temporary blip and may well sort itself out in time.

I have to agree with your summing up of your healthcare (or don'tcare) system we have lots of members who's insurance won't cover effective drugs to control psoriasis.
But if you have health insurance they have to move you on to the next tier when one stops working, is my understanding
I'm sure we would welcome you back to Blighty and could treat you effectively

Cyclosporin is not given out much anymore because of side effects. MTX didn't help much for me and gave it up because of side effects.

Sometimes unfortunately what has been working well suddenly stops working, so it may be time to look for something else.

By the way I've made an edit to your post RE: decreased MTX effectiveness, I would be grateful if you could moderate your language on the public boards.

I took MTX for 9 years ,6 by tablets at 25mg and 3 by injection at 20mg. I had to pack it in because of increasing side effects however I never got any better than 80% clearance and towards the time I packed it in it was getting less effective each week. After I stopped taking it to go onto Stelara I was told I would have to wait 12 weeks and in that time the P went wild so by the time I went on to the Stelara I was 95% covered ,the only time I had been worse was the three times I ended up in hospital. It did help with the PsA better than the Stelara.
We all react differently to the treatments so it's not a good indication to what will happen to other people judging by what's happen to yourself.
