Ouch that is young, do you think it helped getting it so young in respect of living with it or did it still hold your social life back as you reached adulthood?

I think it definitely helped.  I was never too self concious about it until I was around 18 when it started getting really bad and I was wanting to go out clubbing and look good.

I didn't get it till around 25 but it did knock my confidence for six, though I did find accepting it helped a lot also the older I got the less I worried about what others think.

Don't judge the book by it's cover I say.  Tongue

I started with P around 26-27 years but it was fairly mild and then towards my late 20s it got a little worse but in my early 30s after we had our second child I had a vasectomy and within 12 months I was that bad that I had to go in hospital for a six week stay to get it under some sort of control . I had P from my scalp to my feet , nails ,creases ears ,with it all over my body including under my beard which had to be shaved off. The PsA started a few years later and has gradually got worse over the years and now I am 67 years old is a little worse than it was in previous years though I was on MTX for 9 years which did help the PsA quite a lot whereas the Stelara is fantastic for the P does not help a lot with the PsA. I have had three hospital admissions over the years when it got away with itself but until I retired I have always had a job which was full on with a lot of stress and since I retired it does seem to have improved but of course it is difficult to evaluate as it was quite bad before the Stelara but I don't think I have had the flare-ups like I used to get in the past couple of years or so.
I have had more lotions, potions , pills and light treatments than I can count.

When I first started with it Fred they were still using tar wraps, I was a test case for some treatments which one of them was quite nasty when my big toe nails grew sideways through my toes but I cannot remember what it was called. It's much better nowadays but I was fantastic at making a body suit out of tubular bandages when I was using Dithrocream. The Stelara really has been my saviour in the last 2 plus years giving me 99% clearance which is something that I only thought could be a dream however I wish that I could do more for the PsA apart from the Tramadol but I cannot complain as my PsA is not as bad as yours Fred.

at first it's arthritis for two toes and half of big toe. I'm given cream to control it. If weather is wet on working day, didn't look myself well a bit. Don't have that arthritis, when see disfigured, two toes, 26 years old. I have few patches in right foot, this year, since it persist, this Friday I'm going to clinic to have my hair scalp checked.

Fred

I'm not sure if you are still researching this topic as the thread is getting long teeth - but it is still open so I'm assuming you may well be.

I've answered 21-25 (I think that was the option)    but it's an "ish" response as I now believe I probably started showing symptoms in my late teens - however they simply weren't diagnosed as psoriasis at the time.  It was a long time ago - either way - I have now been suffering from the condition for more than 40 years.

Cheers

Kit

When I was about 4yrs old when my mum took me to the doctors, at first they said it was infantile eczema, when it didn't go they said infantile psoriasis.  It wasn't until I was 14 though that psoriasis really took hold...I haven't looked back since, and never been clear.
