Hello Evie,
I can only wish you a welcome over here on psoriasisclub. I don't know anything on a relation between Embrel and gaining weight. Still someone else may know and will post. Cheers, Caroline

Hello Evie to Psoriasis Club I don't know of anyone putting weight on because of Enbrel, they do state you should watch for weight loss whilst using it as they do for most Bio's. Humira, Remicade and Cimzia mention weight gain too but not Enbrel, but I suppose as the others do say you should keep an eye on your weight then you should check with you dermatologist to be sure. As for what you can do to counter act it: I wouldn't advise trying anything until you have spoken with your dermatologist, because if it is the Enbrel that is causing it then it needs monitoring. Regards. Fred.

I'm not on Enbrel but did a search. As Fred said, it's more associated with possible weight loss.
I did see a few places that said to see your doctor if you experience "sudden weight gain". It wasn't listed as a side effect as much as the standard warning that a sudden weight gain could be caused by something else. Definitely would mention it to your doctor.

Hi Evie,
I have been on Enbrel since September and have put on about a stone. I saw my consultant recently, and told me that this weight gain was as a result of the high doses of steroids that I have been on for the pain. Whenever I have tried to reduce the steroids, the pain quickly increases, so it is important to find the right balance for you. Once you have done that, you have to wait with crossed fingers until you have a flare, and you need the extra steroids! Do note that you must be careful when reducing steroids, as you must not suddenly stop. Talk to your doctor or nurse and they will advise on rate of reduction. Good luck.

Hi Paul, do you take the 50m of Enbrel which you inject, because that is not a pain killer but a bio.
