Hi everyone, newbie to the board. Im 31 had psoriasis since age 10 recently dx with ms...clearly this complicates things. My neurologist wants me to start tecfidera, im from US btw. I an hoping it will help my p. I have googled and googled and cant find anything. I called biogen and asked them if tecfidera has helped pts with p and they said no studies have shown that. In any event i am starting and hopeful the main ingredient dmf will help my p as well as ms. What is the clearing like. From what i understand it takes a while? Thoughts and comments woyld be appreciated thank you so much. Also, could you be on another drug like stelara and tecfidera? Jw with incidence of pml.

Hi Jm firstly I would like to welcome Welcome  you to the club and hope you will find some answers here there I'd a lot of information as I have told you regarding Fumaderm and DMF on this site together with a lot of individual experiences (there is no one on here on Tecfidera)  but the active ingredient in both is the same thing .. Fumaderm has other useless additives that do nothing for psoriasis. You ask how long to get clearance . Well that depends on several things for me it was around 8 weeks I seem to remember
I will look for a few links to Threads relating to Dmf for you to read but I'm sure you will get other advice
I'm not sure about Stelara and Tecfidera cocktail I m sure we will get an opinion on that soon
Have a look through the prescribed treatments or put Fumaderm in the search box you will get a lot of posts show up. I will give you some other links but in the meantime take a look at this one  My journey on furmederm starts

Hi jmcarlo,

That is a very compact introduction, you write there, packed with questions.
At first a warm Welcome to the forum.
Hope you will enjoy, we are a nice bunch.

About your questions in short, because all your answers are indeed here on the forum if you start reading in the posts that are about DMF, Fumaderm, Tecfidera and Psorinovo.

Tecfidera is aimed at MS. The price is in the range of other MS medications. About $ 20 for a pill of 120mg
Active ingredient is DMF, nothing else.
Raw DMF is available in the market for $160 per kilo, = 1000 grams = 100000 mg
Fumaderm contains also DMF as working substance as does Psorinovo.
They are much cheaper.
The problem is in the availability.

Do some searches on the forum, or do ask us more specific quesions and you will get the answers.

Caroline

I don't think Biogen want the tecfidra used for psoriasis as it is more expensive as they only want approval for Ms,  so they have not I beleive put it through trials for psoriasis
It will work the same as Fumaderm and Psorinovo
I will let Caroline tell you more about Psorinove which is most like Tecfidera as it is DMF with no additives
Some more threads to look through including my intro thread
Fumaderm and hormone injections. My intro

And if you want to know more on dimethylfumarates then you can read here Dimethylfumarates and Psoriasis.

And if you are very handy and want to go cheap, you can go like Bill does in Bill's pure dimethylfumarate thread.

Hello jmcarlo83  Welcome to Psoriasis Club.

I'm sorry but I'm not understanding all your text speak, (It's a Fred thing)   Confused and I see you have answers from Caroline and Jim.

But I did understand your question "could you be on another drug like stelara and tecfidera" I could find NO Interaction with the use of Stelara (ustekinumab) and Tecfidera (dimethyl fumarate) together.

Regards

Fred.

I agree there should be no need for Stelara as well,.....as the Tecfidera should take care of the MS and psoriasis

Haha, and I don't understand this question. Is really meant using the two together?
And what do you mean that you can find no interaction.

If you mean influencing each other, I think they will not. The working area of both drugs is totally different.
