Are you having blood work every month to check your liver while on the Methotrexate, Sheila?
You and I started taking Methotrexate around the same time. My dermatologist said that it takes about three months on it before it really works well. I'm eating whatever I want and letting the medicine quiet the skin. Keep as many veggies as you can in the noodle bowl. Maybe you could get one with rice noodles instead of wheat noodles? I'm cheering for you with these changes you're going through and wishing you the best.

I really worry about that so I make sure. I even have it programmed into my phone to make sure I don't miss the timing for them. No issues so far. My skin continues to worsen. My face is the worst. It's itching like a son of a gun. I do eat gluten free bread and noodles and rice noodles as well. I eat veggies as often as I can. I use a dip with a sour cream base and also hummus for the veggies too. So I am a lucky woman. I eat nothing but salads for lunches so I am good there too. Has your Derm given you Clobex in conjunction with the MTX? I know they can boost the MTX. So I don't know what the doctor is going to do. Around my belly button is like an angry red hole. Kinda disheartening if you ask me. Anyways, I know I will have options so I will have to just be optimistic. Talk soon, Forest! Stay safe!!

Well, the area around my nose, my eyebrows, forehead, upper lip and left chin are bloody awful. Can't put on makeup because it gets so itchy and when I do take it off, the "ultra sensitive" wipes sting my face horribly. So here I am. Today is the dermatologist appointment and I hope that we get away from Methyltrexate. Not that it is bad, because it has helped, but I feel even with an increase, it will not solve the issue to the extent I want. That being clear or close to clear skin. I guess that's a dream for all of us. Ah well, I will post tonite or tomorrow to let you all know how it goes with the derm.

So a couple things....first, derm says estrogen shouldn't affect my psoriasis.
Second...derm is going straight from MTX to skyrizzi. So in a month I will get my first injection. I am so looking forward to this! Lastly...if the arthritis that I have has anything to do with PsA, skyrizzi will have an effect on it. My old GP said it was rheumatoid arthritis. So we shall see!

If you have psoriasis and you get arthritis, then the most logical it is that it will be Psoriatic Arthritis, as this is a common comorbidity of psoriasis, about 30% of us get it. Did the GP measure the rheum antibodies in your blood? That is the way to be sure that it is rheumatic arthritis or not. If you have Psoriatic Arthritis then there are no antibodies of course. But I bet that your GP did not measure that, and thus probably made a common mistake calling it rheumatic arthritis. Did the MTX help against your arthritis ? If not it is even more likely that it is Psoriatic Arthritis, as MTX doesnt help against that, there is a reference to an article about that in a post called Methotrexate no better than Placebo for Psoriatic Arhtritis. Good chance that Skyrizi will do the perfect job for you. That would be great!! Good luck in advance.

I'm happy you'll be getting medicine to help both the arthritis and the skin. For makeup removal, maybe try using Ponds cold cream rather than the wipes? The makeup might be aggravating your skin. I hope the skyrizzi lets you sparkle with all the cosmetics you want.

On my forehead, around my eyebrows, in my eyebrows, on my nose, under my eyes, upper lip, jawline: all have psoriasis. Around the eyes, forehead and nose are the worst. When I use the makeup remover it just burns and I am using the mildest ones in the local market. Hopefully Marcelle will be my saving grace.(Tue-15-03-2022, 23:13 PM)Sheila Wrote: So a couple things....first, derm says estrogen shouldn't affect my psoriasis. The derm was a good listener. His nurse spent more time with me doing a PASI score. We determined that even with the MTX, the psoriasis still covered more than 70% of my body, and in some cases, still severely. My knees were the only place where it was graded as less than moderate. *sigh* Here's to hoping Skyrizzi is the answer to all my prayers! |
