I've had a patch of psoriasis on my lower leg for several years and it increased in size and got more itchy as time went on. I've googled various natural treatments but didn't actually try any of them until last week. Recently I started using Calamine lotion to ease the itching and it was quite helpful but I had to keep putting more of it on several times a day to keep the itching away. Then I read about coconut oil being effective and experimented a bit with that. Amazingly, I came up with something that really worked which is this: I mixed calamine lotion with coconut oil and rubbed it firmly on the patch and the surrounding skin several times a day and before going to bed. After only 24 hours of doing this the itching was gone and hasn't returned. NO itching! The patch is healing over like normal skin and without the silvery, scaly surface. I'll post here again with a progress report in a few days.

Hi and  Welcome to the site it's great to read your story, we have many here that swear by coconut oil as it is a very good moisturiser. Sounds like a good idea to mix it with calamine lotion to achieve clearance  I hope it keeps working for you and the leg stays clear ....I look forward to reading your updates  Thumb

Hi! Nice to meet you!
I'm an advocate of zinc cream as well, though I normally use sudocrem. I've not had clearance but it does reduce itching more than other creams.

Well, it's a week now and I've had NO more itching. I've left the patch alone and not put anything on it. Just waiting now for the scab to dry up and fall off. At that point I should be able to see if the psoriasis has really gone away.

Good luck I hope it's worked and even if it hasn't cleared it ......,  it has at least  relieved the itching, so a success and I have my fingers crossed for you  Thumb

Just reporting in to say that that there is new normal skin growing over the area and no scaliness. I haven't applied the calamine/coconut oil mix again but I did apply coconut oil once while I was oiling all over both legs when they looked dry. There has been no more itching at all so far.

Great to hear, and thanks for coming back to tell. I will continue to follow your peogress, and put a note about it in the newsletter that goes out at the end of the month.

It would be great if some other people decided to try this and report back.

Who knows it's out there now, and it's being read so it's possible some will try it. My treatment is working well for me so there's no way I would change

Hopefully if someone else tries it they will give us feedback to know if it works for them, it will reach a wider audience when the newsletter goes out  Thumb

No offence, jimi, but who would want 'treatment' if 'cure' was possible? Just my personal stance but I have always looked only for 'cure' and not settled for anything less. I have had some pretty serious conditions and it was very tempting to accept 'treatment' only but I was totally determined and all are now things of the past. Hopefully this small manifestation of psoriasis will also prove to be a thing of the past and if it doesn't return I sincerely hope that others will take note and try it for themselves.
