Stay positive. I know it's hard sometimes but a lot of the people on this forum have or have had days like this.
Wish you loads of luck on Monday...
Don't know if anyone on the forum has tried this but when my mom has had a particularly itchy bout in the past she put diluted tea tree oil directly on the patches of psoriasis, and it's given her temporary relief until she could visit her gp. Also don't know if this is available in the UK.
The Skincerity she is using now is definitely working for her. She uses it every night and leaves it on. It does wash off when she bathes, though. So far, so goodSmile

One other thing, I don't know about the others but we are about to have a change of season, this ALWAYS upsets my skin and makes me very itchy. Thumb

Yep Thumbsdown indeeed beginning last week I had quite sore feet even spinning was painful by the end of the lesson, and what appeared? The weather over here took quite another direction.

Although you have no sun in the UK your still need vitamin D3.
Between 5 mcg and max 50 mcg per day is necessary, and is very helpful for health overall and therefore also for the psoriasis.

Hi Charlene. I'm sorry to read your having such a rough time! Just know that you are not alone in your battle. I have had psoriasis for 21 years now. My psoriasis have cover almost my whole body quite a few times. I know how you are feeling. I had people stare, say rude comments, make fun of me, and I have had people run away from me. People are scared an ignorant of things they don't know about and that is why some people act the way they do. You are normal....does your skin look normal...not necessarily, but YOU are normal. I know that it's hard, but don't let the Psoriasis determine who you are. I have said a few times that I feel like I am on a emotional and mental rollercoaster. It's such a high when your doing well, that you tend to forget what it's like to do poorly. I don't think you ever get used to the rollercoster ride. Just know we are here for you and come vent anying time! Bigarm

Hi..

I know I'm a little late to this thread but I wanted to share some of my knowledge on helping cope with the itching caused by psoriasis. Many people who have psoriasis are very sensitive to chemically generated soaps/shampoos & moisturisers. I have found that using naturally derived cosmetics helps to reduce the itch. I buy all my soaps and moisturisers from lush and they really help.

With regards to medication for your psoriasis, antihistamines do work to ease the itch but the effects can take up to a month to be noticed, one week isn't really enough time for them to have an effect on your immune system.

I use dovobet for my psoriasis, having discovered that none of the other lotions and potions work for me and I also have UV therapy at the same time. So long as you don't have the cream on when you go in the sunbed it is safe to do so.

I agree with what others have said. Your GP is not a specialist so ask for a referal to dermatology, I have been under the care of a dermatologist since the age of 4 and their knowledge is more specific than my GP.

I hope you get some relief soon... One other thing to mention is that you should have cool, not hot, baths and showers and use an emollient in the shower instead of soap every couple of days. Also moisturise with an intensive moisturiser morning and night. I use dream cream from lush which contains chamomile and rose, both of which are calming on inflamed skin.

Also..

Wanted to say that coming to terms with Psoriasis can be a long road. I have had it since the age of 4 and am now in my mid 30's. It took me until I was in my late teens/early 20's before I could feel comfortable in wearing t-shirts and shorts during the summer.

Now, you can't get my legs/arns etc. covered when the sun is out!!

The best defence against stares and comments is to educate yourself as much as you can about your condition and then use that knowledge to educate others.. People only react to "different" when they don't understand it.

thankyou so much krissie and everyone for your support. Had a rough night last night really felt like ripping my skin off :( its great that i can come on here and let off some steam and not be judged. ive had a rough time lately as had to leave my home town and move 80 miles away from my family and friends so i have no support at all around me. I think this is why i am really struggling this time. I appreciate all the advice and have been trying to take it all on board. Just cant wait till they can find a cure for psoriasis but i doubt we'll see it in our lifetime

Thanks again

You're welcome, just rant away we're used to it. Leaving your home town will have an impact, Moving is one of the top for stress. But use it to your advantage, keep in touch with the nice people, and the baddies! well now what did you do with those email or phone numbers Oops looks like you have lost them Angel

Also you can start a fresh, and build up a new group of people in your new environment. But if all else fails we are here, and you're already sounding more positive, so keep it up and soon you will be helping others in return. Wink
