Tonic Water

Just thought I would mention this. I've had a bit of a bad belly the last few days and Mrs Fred came home with some Tonic Water and said try this it should help your stomach. Anyway my belly is fine again now, but I did a bit of research into Tonic Water because I was telling Mrs Fred that it contained Quinine.

I found out that Quinine is a natural white crystalline alkaloid having antipyretic (fever-reducing), antimalarial, analgesic (painkilling), and anti-inflammatory properties. Now I don't know if there is any thing in this but in the last couple of days I have noticed the psoriatic arthritis is a little less painful. I should point out that it wasn't to bad anyway, but anyone with PsA will know what I mean when I say you can often feel it, and you know if it's feeling better or not.

Quinine has been used to also treat Malaria, Lupus (a systemic autoimmune disease), nocturnal leg cramps, and arthritis. Obviously there are small amounts of Quinine in my Schweppes Tonic Water (Other brands are available) and I wouldn't recommend anyone try using pure Quinine

But just wanted to share this with you, and if anyone has any comments I would be interested. Oh and No I didn't mix it with Gin or Vodka

I actually tried a water for my skin a few years back, I think willow water???? I can't remember if that was its name but I could only get it in waitrose, I bought loads of the stuff as heard some people found it helped!!!

Any way it did nothing for me and after a bit I just gave up!!!

It wasn't a tonic water, more a mineral type!

I hate tonic it is just called tonic with us.
It has a very bitter taste, and I do not like that, I am more the sweet type. Which of course is a very strange for a motorfanatic,  but it fits  excellent to a spinner. Lots of carbonhydrates to be burned.

Anyway I will give it a try, despite it's disgusting taste...

Yes even after 30+ years of psoriasis I still keep wondering if something might just work one day. Though in my life time I very much doubt it

Just dug this old thread as I had just poured myself a large gin and tonic ( my favourite tipple)
And found it rather interesting I knew it contained quinine and I occasionally get woken at night with leg cramps whenever I get one of those I hobble off to the fridge and pour myself a large glass of tonic ... It always gives me relief. Now whether it's the quinine in it or just that it rehydrated me. Who knows

I think that most modern tonics have quinine flavouring rather than quinine in the original state.
