Adalimumab long term…..

Haven’t posted for a looooooooong time!!

I’ve been successfully using adalimumab (humira first then a different brand for the last couple of years) for about 5 years and been pretty much completely clear, however the last couple of months I have started to show a rash all over my chest/shoulders/back.

It’s not the same as the P I had before Humira, it is flat, not itching, no dryness just smooth red blotches of skin. Could this be a different form of P?? Could it be that it’s time to change my treatment??

Phone your dermatologist, you could be having a reaction to it. What you are describing sounds similar to what I had when I got a reaction to Humira, I ignored it and ended up in hospital for a week. Ended up I had reactions to all the TNF types and since using the IL types all is fine.

It may not be, but you should report it just to be on the safe side.

Hi there and good to see you back sorry to hear about the rash which could well be the humira beginning to fail you, but definitely worth a call to your dermatologist. I sure some members who have been on humira will be able to advise better than I can and hopefully one of them will see this and might have had a similar experience

I agree, sounds like a call to the doctor is in order to see what's going on. Could be a reaction, a rash due to something else or time to move on to another treatment. But on the side of caution you should definitely see your doctor!

Just an update on this, it turns out i had a bout of strep throat which had triggered guttate P. The docs have asked me to inject once a week instead of once every two weeks to try and clear it up.

Have been doing so for a few weeks now but the P is still there, not itchy or inflamed or anything…. Just there. Almost looks like scarring

I wonder. If you are not reacting to a double dose… then I think that humira is not working for you new type of psoriasis. Guttate is a very annoying kind, so perhaps discuss with your derm on how to move on.

Thank you for the update.  Did your doctor determine the guttate P through biopsy or just knew by looking?
