#1 What age did you think something was going wrong: Around 23

#2 How many years later was it that you got a diagnoses: Around 25

#3 When you got a diagnoses how did it make you feel: Rubbish, it felt like I had a disease like a leper and no one would want to know me any more.

#4 What was your first treatment: A dandruff shampoo that only made things worse

#5 Did you think it was a temporary thing: I hoped it was as I believed my doctor (who I know know was wrong)

#6 How long before you got to see a dermatologist: I think about 3 years

#7 What did you think of your first dermatologist: A person that just wanted to throw poison Methotrexate at me with no care on what it was doing to my body

#8 Have you ever given up on a prescribed treatment: Yes poison Methotrexate and most creams that they gave me at the start as they cause more problems or just don't work. I did also have to give up some Bio's (TNF) as they gave me a reaction.

#9 How do you feel you are being treated today: Excellent, I have built up a good relationship with my current dermatologist and I'm very pleased

#10 What would you say to the younger you at #1: Forget what your GP tells you and dump your first dermatologist, push very hard and demand better treatment

#1 What age did you think something was going wrong: 17

#2 How many years later was it that you got a diagnoses: 6 months

#3 When you got a diagnoses how did it make you feel: shattered as I was just beginning to enjoy girls and it held me back

#4 What was your first treatment:
Coal tar ointment

#5 Did you think it was a temporary thing:
No I was told brutally it was something I had for life and it was difficult to control and there weren't many treatments 55 years ago

#6 How long before you got to see a dermatologist:
One year

#7 What did you think of your first dermatologist:
Not a lot as it was coal tar or salicylic acid ointment
Neither of which were nice and did nothing but ruin my clothes or bed sheets
But got better when they gave me UV treatment a very basic aperatus where they had to adjust arking carbon rods to make them burn and give off UV rays it was very basic but worked

#8 Have you ever given up on a prescribed treatment:
Regularly gave up on creams and ointments.
And couldn't wait to dump methotrexate

#9 How do you feel you are being treated today:
I feel I'm treated well and have a good rapport with my current dermatologist

#10 What would you say to the younger you at #1:
Back in the day nothing as I don't think there was enough treatments . So I can't think of anything that would have helped then

#1 What age did you think something was going wrong: 18

#2 How many years later was it that you got a diagnoses: a few months

#3 When you got a diagnoses how did it make you feel: a bit down, but the treatment made the psoriasis appear to go away for some years

#4 What was your first treatment: steroid cream, betnovate I believe

#5 Did you think it was a temporary thing: yes, and after the betnovate worked I thought it had gone away

#6 How long before you got to see a dermatologist: probably about 15 years

#7 What did you think of your first dermatologist: very kindly

#8 Have you ever given up on a prescribed treatment: yes a lot of things mainly because they didn’t work/ stopped working after a while

#9 How do you feel you are being treated today: I feel like I’m being looked after, though I worry about the one term effects of biologicals

#10 What would you say to the younger you at #1: I probably wouldn’t say anything, I wouldn’t want my younger self to realise it was going to come back with a vengeance.. I’d let her enjoy the next years in blissful ignorance!

#1 What age did you think something was going wrong: around 30

#2 How many years later was it that you got a diagnoses: straight away more or less.

#3 When you got a diagnoses how did it make you feel: puzzled but within 2 months I was covered virtually head to toe.

#4 What was your first treatment: First real treatment was in hospital, tar wraps.

#5 Did you think it was a temporary thing: I didn't know what to think as it went from nothing to covered in a short time.

#6 How long before you got to see a dermatologist: Didn't do so bad, within two weeks of my GP seeing me.

#7 What did you think of your first dermatologist: she was great , very attractive which helped but in 1980ish treatments were poor.

#8 Have you ever given up on a prescribed treatment: no not really but several have given up on me.

#9 How do you feel you are being treated today: Extremely well as I go to the Spire for treatment now, it's still NHS payed for but I have been lucky as it's far better than our local NHS service for dermatology by a long way.

#10 What would you say to the younger you at #1: Don't worry and just think that everyone is different so if anyone does not like it sod them and don't get upset.
