3 Covid jabs in France for patients on Immunosuppressants

I thought I would share this as I have been told I need three covid jabs.

France have recently reviewed their covid jab strategy and have put patients receiving an Immunosuppressant on three jabs of covid vaccine.

Today Mrs Fred went for her first jab this morning and met our old retired GP, he told her that I should ask about the third jab. As it happened I also had an appointment with my new GP this afternoon and she confirmed that it is being rolled out that anyone taking an Immunosuppressant is to have three shots.

#1 First shot

#2 Second shot 6 - 8 weeks later

#3 Third shot 4 weeks after the second.

When you book here you book your first and second jab dates together, that is about to change and there will soon be an option for those using an Immunosuppressant to book 3 dates. I have had my first jab so I have to phone my GP two days after my second jab and if I have had no problems she will talk to my dermatologist and write a prescription for my third jab 4 weeks later.

Any other countries doing three jabs for patients on an Immunosuppressant ?

I was surprised, it was already in place for people on cancer treatments, but they are extending it to other immune problems and those using immunosupresants.

I think the UK are going onto a 3 shot volunteer trial, so could be worth you asking.

I haven't heard anything here in the US about it and couldn't find any information that said three shots instead of two. Will be interesting to see how long before other countries get on board or if they do.

I have not seen anything about it in other countries, all I can find is that they think it's a wise decision here.

I'll go for it, I've started now after a lot of hesitation but I have a lot of faith in the French healthcare system.

Nothing about 3 jabs in Canada but a friend did send me the news article about the 3 jabs in France.

I am going for my second jab tomorrow at my pharmacy and will ask the pharmacist if he heard anything.

Got my second jab today and asked my pharmacist about a third.

He's aware of what France will be doing but no instructions were given here for a third dose.

They are currently scrambling to rebook the second dose appointments earlier as they initially booked them 3 months apart!
