So, short history few years back I had tingling in my pinky finger after nerve conductivity turned out I had cubital tunnel syndrome so they moved the nerve, then about a year after that same thing in my other hand.  I mention this only as it could pertain to the current issue.

About 4-5 days ago I woke up with my left arm feeling asleep from the elbow down into my hand.  A bit worrisome but I thought I had most likely slept wrong and pinched a nerve and it would go away.  But it hasn't, it does feel better at times and worse at times so not sure why and it's mostly towards the wrist and the last three fingers of my hand (although with numbness it really is hard to tell exact spots)  So I decided to google possible causes.  The one that stood out the most as it described it the closest was one that suggested possible psoriatic arthritis.  So does that sound familiar to any of you?  The rheumatologist already has given me a that diagnosis due to my ankles so that also makes me wonder.  Curious if it is a symptom anyone here experienced.

Eurgh not very nice symptoms, I have had various issues with my arms but not heard of cubital tunnel before - I’ve had my carpal tunnel done and I had a patch of time with what I put down to ‘tennis elbow’ though not properly diagnosed. It does seem a fair possibility that if you’re experiencing numbing feelings then there’s a nerve somewhere being squashed by inflammation and that is likely to be PA given your other diagnosis?

Hi Kat,

It is the radial nerve that is being affected. I used to wake with dead fingers very frequently. I my case I think that the nerve was getting squashed at the elbow (cubital tunnel). Whenever it would happen I would vigorously mobilize my forearm to restore function asap. I rarely get it now, and only very mildly, so it may be related to psoriatic arthritis.

Cheers

Not sure Kat, I wouldn't class my experience of psoriatic arthritis as numbness. More like stiffness and my bones locking up and severe pain mostly around the joints.

Difficult one, sorry not much help.

I concur with Bill. I get the same thing in my left arm. My pinky and ring finger feel numb when i sleep on my left. Mine is soon sorted if I clench my fist and then stretch my hand out as wide as I can with my arm straight. All gone , back to sleep Sleep

When I had cubital tunnel, the numbness was more restricted to my pinky and ring fingers and not so much any in my arm. I've had the ulner nerve release surgery on both elbows (but I do believe the nerve can become "trapped" again)

It's feels a bit different, there is more numbness this time so I looked at possible other things that could be causing it. I know.... need a doctor to diagnose but when I saw the bit on psoriatic arthritis it made me wonder if it was a symptom. If it is then I'm guessing it's not a common one.

Thanks for your replies and I'll let you know what I find out.

Sorry Kat, mine does radiate from the eblow to fingers more often than not. A good stretch always sorts it. I do have a more targeted ache in a couple of knuckles that is completely different.

Right now it's lessened a bit, can still feel the numbness but not the tingling sensation.  I tried the stretch, but with it not bothering me much it was hard to say if it helped or not.  So when/if it starts back with the tingling (the numbness has stayed, the tingling comes and goes) I will try your stretch again and see if it helps,  Thanks for that info!

Oh and to be clear as I tend to not always be Tongue Before when I had the cubital tunnel issues it was my hand/pinky finger this time I DO feel it from my elbow down into my hand (the tingling sensation) The numbness is down in my hand, feels like all the fingers this time though (minus the thumb)

It doesn’t ring a bell voor me as being Psoriatic Arthritis.
What I have always felt, but that was in my hands/fingers, was that I had no strength in them because as soon as I started to hold something thighly the joints started to get very painful. Which as far as I know is “the” ultimate signal of Psoriatic Arthritis.
The same for my feet, though I cannot grab anything with my feet Snigger , but its the joints that hurt.
I have never felt any numbness in that way.

I do feel numbness in my bum, if I stand up in the morning, and slept on one of my sides, but that is due to my other problem, and as far as I know not related to Psoriatic Arthritis

Good to know!

Of course with having psoriasis and the "early signs" of psoriatic arthritis diagnosis, when I saw that as a possible cause I had to ask if anyone here had experienced it.

I do have issues with joints in my hands, also strength issue but I do have degenerative arthritis in some joints so it's hard to say on that one.
