Hi I'm curious to hear if anyone else has had the same experience as I have

I was on Fumaderm tablets through the UK national health service ....this was a drug that was not approved by NICE and was prescribed by dermatology departments at their discretion.
I was on Fumaderm for over six years with never a sign of the psoriasis emerging apart from a very small patch (to remind me to take the tablets )
However around six months ago the dermatologist switched me to Skilarence which was not a worry to me as it was basically the same drug. However since transfering I have noticed the psoriasis slowly returning to my scalp to the extent that I now use a topical to reduce the scales when I need a haircut

I was wondering if others have been switched as I have from Fumaderm to Skilarence and what their experience is

Hi jiml

I was on Fumaderm for over a year and managed to get 100% clearance from just 4 initial tablets a day, documented on this forum. I had to stop taking them when they found traces of blood in my urine but my clearance lasted over a year without them. They were a mirace drug.

When i went back i was put on Skilarence and it was an awful drug for me with the worst intestinal cramps ive had and they didn't decrease. I had to stop them in the end.

For me i think Fumaderm wipes the floor with Skilarence but the problem is we can't have Fumaderm anymore.

Thank OBI I couldn't remember who it was that had done the switch till you just reminded me. So you gave it up because the cramps got too bad ....such a shame and I agree Fumaderm seems from my experience to be better than Skilarence .....for me it isn't the side effects it seems to be failing me as I am getting odd spots on my scalp and that itch before it breaks out which is a worry

What are you on now ?

I'm not on anything at the moment as I seem to have strange reactions whenever I come off medication (in a good way).

Both when i stopped Acitretin, Fumaderm and Skillarence - even if I still had lots of psoriasis, within a month of stopping my skin seems to clear up completely and stays clear for around 12 months. It slowly comes back but i normally have full clearance for a good year.

I can't explain why but its happened everytime I've stopped treatment. Go figure.

Sounds great to me no medication and your body reacts well and clears up difficult to work out what's going on with you. But just enjoy the clearance
I hope it lasts over a year this time and you get a treatment that will work long term next time

Sadly my body reacts differently I notice if I cut my dose down how the itch and red bumps start to appear so have to put the dose back up

O wow, that is really great !!

The only thing is to try to find out when to stop.

But if it comes back, couldn’t you restart a certain treatment? You might then end up in an endless loop. Big Grin

My psoriasis is coming back so hopefully next month I'll be able to start treatment again.

I'm thinking of starting Skillarence again as even though it gave me bad cramps I'm hopeful that a slow build again will keep the cramps at bay. You never know if i can stay on it long enough, when I come off it I'll get clearance for a while.  Big Grin

Great to know that you may go on skilarence again. I hope it works well for you and you don't get any cramps and can take it long term on a low dose to keep you clear Thumb
