Hi Cowsaregreat, everyone is different in how the treatment works and what side effects you get so it is difficult to be specific .
I have had quite a lot of the treatments that have been around for sometime such as MTX, cyclosporin , acetretin etc but I have not been on skilarence . I am on Stelara now and have been for 6 years ish and it's really good with very little in the way of side effects however a lot of people have had tremendously bad side effects from MTX and even though I did have side effects I was on it for 9 years oral then injections but it did work but then slowly stopped working but by that time the side effects had really built up.
I would have a good look around on the site because there is more information on here than anywhere I know plus when you ask a question it will be answered by someone in the same boat who will give a truthful answer based on experience .

Update: saw the NHS Dermatologist yesterday. He wasn’t too keen at first to prescribe MTX (even though he said I’m a prime candidate for it) due to the Coronavirus and it affecting my immune system. Long story short, he did prescribe it so took first dose last night. Please keep your fingers crossed for me. I so want it to be my miracle cure!!!!

I have my fingers crossed for you and hope you are isolating yourself as the methotrexate will lower your immune system
But it should be your miracle psoriasis controller Wink but sadly won't be a cure as such Thumb

Good luck I look forward to hearing your progress

I will keep my fingers crossed for you, but as a hater of methotrexate being used for psoriasis I have to say. "It will not cure you"

But to be fair nothing will cure you, as it's all about management rather than cure.

Just my personal opinion.

Good luck.

I know it won’t cure it. Not really sure why I used that word!! Get it under control I meant!

I think because we all hope one day that there will be a cure. When we first get it we are told to slap on some cream and we will be fine, but the reality is that we now have it for life and it's time our doctors told us that.

I wish my doctor 40 odd years ago had been honest with me, I feel I would have coped better.

My doctor did that when many years ago he told me that I had Psoriatic Arthritis. I had never heard of it and asked my future with it.
And he said that it could be doable or I could also end up in a wheelchair. .... eek

I did think that was a very clumsy and bold way of telling.
