I think i have severe facial Psoriasis (around both eyes) . Derm thinks it might be periorificial dermatitis , shes put me on anti-bios. I've my doubts

10th day of taking Anti-bios and its getting worse

it burns and feels like its on fire at times

Anyone any experience with this ?

Help appreciated

I do get psoriasis on my face but not specifically round the eyes. Sorry I can’t be of specific help..
I would say first of all, are you using any emollient cream because there are quite a few that doctors give out that actually make my facial skin more sore. I use a cream called Aveeno here in uk, would also try a little oil to moisturise, or possibly a little Vaseline (would have to be a night I guess or you might go out looking very shiny!) try and avoid getting the area wet too often as well, as water is very drying.

I've never had much facial psoriasis, but what little I did get I found it was always worse in the winter. Probably the cold wind and dry heat in the house, plenty of moisturiser is all I could recommend.

*I'll move this thread to Psoriasis And Psoriatic Arthritis Topics as probably won't get many answers here in Introductions.

The only facial P that I had was when I had my beard and it went as soon as I shaved it off. I used to get a little around my ears which I still get now and again even with the Stelara but facial not a lot. The only thing that I can say is be careful what you use around the eyes .

Sorry I cant be much help Confused .
I have never had Psoriasis on my face, but do have it quite badly on my lower legs and these burn to high heaven when anything is applied.

All I can recommend is some judicious use of a good moisturiser and ride out on the anti-bios for the time being. If they dont work, it may be time to ask for a Dermatology referal as they have access to more treatments than your GP and obviously should have a better idea at what they are looking at.

Regards

I don’t know it myself so can’t help you with experience. Your derm has diagnosed periorificial dermatitis, then it is normal treating you with anti biotics.

I read on the web that they don’t really know what the cause is. But that it is clear that it more often occurs with people who use or have used topicals.
I found the following:
General measures

Discontinue applying all face creams including topical steroids, cosmetics and sunscreens (zero therapy).
Consider a slower withdrawal from topical steroid/face creams if there is a severe flare after steroid cessation. Temporarily, replace it by a less potent or less occlusive cream or apply it less and less frequently until it is no longer required.
Wash the face with warm water alone while the rash is present. When it has cleared up, use a non-soap bar or liquid cleanser if you wish.
Choose a liquid or gel sunscreen.

PD is not Psoriasis.
I see you are already using Fumaderm, that would have prevented Psoriasis, so it is different.

I've had it on my face, and near my eyes at one point. I would be hesitant to use topicals with steroids on the face, especially near the eyes but then I tend to be overly cautious.

It would take a doctor to diagnose you so I would call back the doctor who said you have periorificial dermatitis and let him/her know the antibiotic isn't working and things are getting worse. I know that my first diagnosis was dermatitis which turned out to be incorrect (the meds didn't help me either) BUT that was a regular doctor who then sent me to a dermatologist. I'd call the doctor back and see what they say. Hope you see improvement soon.
