hi im yato, 13 had psoriasis since i was like 6?? it started on my scalp and gradually went down into my eyebrows but never progressed further until about 5 years later. now its all over my body (at least 50-60%) and i have no pill/shot i can take since i'm not 18 yet. 

the only medicated thing i can use is one of those weak steroid creams, but those have proven ineffective as there isn't enough for me to use it on a regular basis. 

has anyone ever tried regular gold bond lotion (the healing kind), for me it's pretty effective. though it doesnt make it go away super fast, it lessens the impact on my daily life + it doesn't cling to my skin like some other medicated creams.

Hello yato   to Psoriasis Club.

Are you seeing a dermatologist ? They could prescribe light treatment.

I'm not sure where you are but Stelara is approved for over 12s, but I doubt you would get it till you have tried other things from a dermatologist.

Goldbond isn't going to do a lot or have lasting results, you may as well try Coconut Oil

I hope you enjoy your time with us and hope you can find an effective treatment but as fred has said you do need to see a dermatologist to get an effective treatment
The stuff you are using is unlikely to do very much as it’s a moisturiser with aloe .
My suggestion is to see a dermatologist who can give you more than just creams

I agree with the others, a dermatologist is the best way to go.  I'm not sure what is approved at certain ages but I'm certain there are options.

Glad to hear you're getting at least some relief with the Gold Bond.  Any moisturizer has the chance of lessening some of the itching but usually as you know, it's a very short relief and for some, offers no relief at all.

You are quite young to already have this stage of Psoriasis. I also agree with the others. Do you have access to a dermatologist where you live in somewhere?

Hi Yato, my reply disappeared. I cant remember what I said, but I am the mother of a 13 year old who also has psoriasis.  When you say there isn't enough is that because you have difficulty getting medication? The weak steroid creams do not work for my son either. Only the very strong ones. Stelera is a biologic (shot) approved for children over 12 years old and he may try that soon. This is a great forum of people, I hope you come back to check your messages and stay in touch with people here.

Hi Yato and welcome to the club, we are all in the same boat here so any questions you ask are from people who have the same problems. I feel for you having P at such a young age but things have come on a long way in the last few years so i think that in the next few years you stand a good chance of a "cure" .
A good dermatologist is essential and certainly light treatment may be a good idea , coconut oil is really good for moisturising , have a good look around and ask all the questions that you want .

Welcome! I'm a little late to the party but hey, there's cookies somewhere if you get the munchies.. i think.. but then someone keeps eating them.....

I would definitely ask to see a dermatologist first and foremost, reason being that there's only so much your usual doctor can do and give you. In my experience your usual family doctor can only give you creams and one or two other things which are ok but I've found they usually dont do much except leave greasy marks on everything which is annoying as hell.

As others have suggested coconut oil is a pretty decent thing to use as well, although you do end up smelling like a coconut, i'd recommend using it before bed then wash it off before you go out, unless you really dont mind it. Dont slap it on or it'll go in your eyes and that stuff stings like a son of a... been there done that. But if you do just run a sink of hot water (or as hot as you can stand it) and wash your face where your eyes are that should help get it out.

One thing i would also suggest is to educate your parents, give them an idea of how you feel, let them read some of these replies so they have an idea what they need to do to help you. I'm not a parent but once i explained to my parents whats going on it helped them understand what the problem is and how they can help even if its just someone to talk to that can help a bunch as well.
