So far he has done 2 rounds. Probably my imagination but his skin was looking better today. He has also been using Proactive for his acne and I wonder if that is helping his face P (He does get it on his face and along his hairline unfortunately). 
Jim I told him to tell people either that he has taken up snowboarding on sunny days. Or just stare blankly like he doesnt know what people are talking about if they ask. Really though I am hoping it will happen gradually and no one will notice, because he is at that age...

It probably is working. It works for many. Hopefully your son will just be pleased to get things under control. Fingers crossed.

Let's hope it is working for him already, and I'm sure he will gain in self confidence as his face clears and will be less embarrassed to have a tan on his face than psoriasis

Yes, try it. The first time I had P all over my body, lighttherapy did clear it and I was in remission for 8 years. The 2nd time I got a big flare it didn't work and I got clear because I became pregnant. When it came back the third time we went almost straight to systemics because of my experience I had de 2nd time. I am now on stelara and although I am now really happy with it, I am glad I didn't have to start it when I was 19. I am almost 32 now, so I managed very well without a bio for more than a decade. So yes, give it a go.

Yes, it is very time consuming, in my opinion, that is the biggest downside of light treatment.
