Hey everyone.  Newbie here to this forum, but far from new to Psoriasis.  Diagnosed as a teen, and now I'm 40.  I've done numerous topicals, phototherapy, and Humira.  I took a break one year ago to try and tackle my P naturally.  Now it's coming back.  I exercise regularly.  But I admit, my diet is not the best P friendly, and I definitely enjoy my adult beverages.  And now I'm starting to get joint pains.  Went back to my derm.  He recommended Stelara.  He said his derm office administers the most Stelara in the state of WA.  So I'm feeling pretty good about it.  Labs are done, and now just waiting for the next steps.  My P isn't super crazy...elbows, half my scalp, and now showing up on legs, but it's growing and driving me crazy.  Looking forward to relief, and learning about your stories with Stelara.  Can I still enjoy my adult beverages?!?!? I will definitely be cutting back, but come on, I want to be realistic here.   Smile

Hello seattlemom,

Welcome to Psoriasisclub.
There is enough very positive information available on Stelara.
And I know also that the one who has used it has the habit of drinking buckets of Merlot wine, so I think you are safe... Big Grin

Enjoy your being here. There are a lot of fun people around.

Cheers,
Caroline.

Hi Seattlemom a warm  Welcome to the club you have found a great place to meet and chat with fellow sufferers who have been through similar experience to yourself, and most if us are trying to keep life as real as possible while dealing with the disease .....I'm sorry the natural route didn't work out for you, I myself have no self discipline and I like my food and drink too much so I rely on drugs to control my psoriasis.
We are a friendly group who are all happy to share their experiences and welcome questions if you have any

Stelara is a good drug and many members here are using it successfully and even having a drink whilst on it ...I don't think you even need to cut back judging by the comments on this off topic thread [Group Specific]

I look forward to reading more from you and hope it goes well when you get on it, if the tests come back clear

Good luck  Thumb

Hello seattlemom07  Welcome to Psoriasis Club.

I'm a big fan of Stelara and was on it for over 6 years. If you're bored I have a couple of threads about my journey.
Stelara 16 Months On.
Stelara round two

I'm also the one Caroline was referring to when she said "I know also that the one who has used it has the habit of drinking buckets of Merlot wine"  15

Don't hesitate to start a thread in Prescribed Treatments For Psoriasis about your journey if you wish, it's a good way of keeping track of your progress and your input could help others.

Regards.

Fred.

Hi and welcome. Fellow newbie here.

Sorry I can't help except to offer a listening ear. I've had P for 54 years but haven't seen a Dermatologist for 30 plus years. I am seeing a Dermatologist in early December due to a current out break.

Lot's of great information and experience here. Gentle hugs x

Hi and welcome to the club, Stelara is a fantastic treatment and works really well for most people , I have been on it for around 5 years and I was really bad with P , by the time I reached the end of the first 12 week period I was almost 99% clear and I have stayed clear apart from the odd patch which turns up now and again for which I use Enstillar . I don't drink myself apart from the occasional bottle of gin a week , wine which is less than several bottles a week and I have no problems at all . Best of luck and I am sure that you will be very happy with the results. Dave

Big Grin very funny, just the one bottle of gin..

Hi Seattlemom07 it's nice to meet you Wave

I am on Stelara, just coming up on a year. I find the clearance is amazing, how were you on Humira as it didn't work for me?

I haven't been advised not to drink, apart from the standard 'it would be healthier' stuff, but not specifically to do with Stelara. I don't drink that much anyway, prob 3 or four per week tops. Sadly I get a headache after more than one glass of wine these days.. Confused Rolleyes

I have heard that practically everyone else but me reports an improvement with aches and pains though, so you will hopefully find that too.

Hope you enjoy the forum!
