wow, that's odd! Like a answered to Caroline, here in the Netherlands the shots are even cheaper than the pills. Maybe it's a brand issue? Cause there are several brands. Metoject was more expensive than my "Teva" injection, but Metoject was produced bij Teva... so might be worth to look into that.
