Info on Fumaderm

Hi lads, completely new to this so bare with me when I ask basic questions   Im 20 and have had psoriasis for nearly 4 years, just started Fumaderm after many other methods such as light treatment and Otezla. I have been on it for 7 weeks now and my dose is 360mg a day until Saturday in which my dose will be 480mg a day. I have seen no change in my skin and am getting a lot of the side effects which are making re-think staying on the tablet. Is there a reason that it is not working yet or is it just standard?

Hi Michael to the forum .... I'm also on fumaderm it does take time to work and it's not unusual... you say you are getting the side effects that's a good sign, your body is reacting to the drug.... if you can hack the side effects it should clear you and give long term clearance .... I've been clear 6 years and we have members who have 10 years on fumaderm .... so don't give up, it is slow to work but if it does work it will be worth it
I'm just on my way to bed at the moment but will give you some tips tomorrow when I wake

Hi Michael,

I find that taking the drug with plenty of food and fluid helps alleviate the tummy upset. Milk is good. I have also found that pre-dosing with a few grams of l-cysteine about an hour before dosing helpful. That being said, the drug got much easier for me to take after a few months.

Hello Michael,

Welcome to Psoriasisclub.

Fumaderm is a slow one, but the chance that is will work is high, between 70-80%.
If you have the flushes, then that is a signal that it is going the right way.

Follow Bills suggestions.

Do give it enough time to get it working.

Hi again Michael Bill is right, take the tablets with a good meal, and at least a pint of  fluid milk is good although I take mine with anything I fancy water, tea or coffee and they all work to minimise the side effects.

After a few months on the tablets the side effects will get less as your body accepts the tablets. I rarely get a stomach cramp, but I still get hot flushes but they are not unpleasant

You might be one of millions of sufferers but here, you are among friends, we are happy to share and are all treated as individuals and not just like annonymous posters
The site is not huge, but we have members around the world and probably have  more hands on experience of the disease than many of the health professionals, and know how it affects us psychologically  there is no better place to learn and mix with  fellow sufferers
