Hello I Betsy.  I am a newbie to the forum and to psoriasis as well.  I was diagnosed early in January.  I am happy to have found this forum to talk about this disease with others.

Hello Betsy  Welcome to Psoriasis Club.

Sorry to hear you have been given psoriasis for a new year present. But it can be controlled so try not to let it get you down.

Have a good look around the forum and just dive on in. You will find a good mix of friendly people always willing to share support and advise, and we also have other active members only boards where you can get away from psoriasis and get to know some of the others.

If you have any problems finding your way around just shout out or contact a Staff

Regards.

Fred.

Hi Betsy and a warm welcome to the club  Wave . As Fred said try not to let the diagnosis get you down. There is a wealth of information on this site for you to peruse at your leisure and everyone is really friendly and while non of us are medically trained we do have the experience of having to live with this disease. So don't be afraid to ask, somebody somewhere is likely to have an answer or be able to point you in the right direction

Hi Betsy, welcome to the forum, you will find more information here than any where that I have come across. We all have te problem and so any questions will be answered by people who know what it's like to have the P/PsA .
Fred has done a great job to put it all together and no body will try to con you into buying so called "cures" as no advertising is allowed. Jim does a good job backing up Fred and all the rest , or 99% of them, are barmy but quite safe.
Have a good look around and ask any questions you want, all the best.

Thank you for the welcome.  Using a forum is new to me so it might take me a while to know my way around, but I am here, reading and learning.  I think I am very lucky to be starting cosentyx after reading the difficulty some are having getting the medication. I started cosentyx yesterday.  I woke up in the middle of the night with a headache that I still have. Because I rarely have a headache, I think this could be related to starting the medication. Yet, I am feeling so hopeful.
Again thank you for the welcome.

Is Cosentyx your first go at Bio's? I found my first try at Bio's caused mild headaches and some times flu like feelings, but it does pass and your body will usually soon adjust.

Don't hesitate to start another thread in Prescribed Treatments For Psoriasis to log your journey. It's a good way of keeping track of your progress and a great way of looking back for comparisons.

Hi Betsy and welcome  Welcome  its good to meet you, I see you have met some of the members and can see that we are all here to help each other deal with this disease .....I'm pleased to see that you have got Cosentyx as a first biological drug and after such a recent diagnosis .....Perhaps your dermatologist has taken note of this document   ( click the blue link).... Could Cosentyx be better than first thought for psoriasis....which we highlighted in last months newsletter, Where it is reported that early intervention with Cosentyx can modify the disease and clearance could continue after finishing a course of treatment .....I hope it is the case and you will let us know if it works for you and in the long term if it continues

It will make a great read if it works as the study suggests
Good luck  Thumb

Hi Betsy,

Welcome to Psoriasisclub.

Seems to me that your dermatologist is a visionair. It is a very modern approach to try to "kick" the disease in the beginning very hard in order to put it back into its shell.
I will probably never go away, but as long as it does not express itself by the kick with Cosentyx, you may be winning a lot. I'm very interested how it will work out for you.

Cheers,
Caroline.
