When you go to the Doctors Laura, do ask to be referred to a dermatologist as GPs can only give you creams which should only be for short term treatment. A dermatologist will diagnose correctly what's wrong and will have much more to offer, as the creams are not working I hope it all goes well, but you may have to be a bit forceful with the doctor as they can be reluctant to refer you on to a specialist

I had very similar rashes all over my body, mostly hands and legs, no scalp though... The only treatment I was suggested - was the light therapy (derma doc). I asked about gels - did not help me at all (Dovobit or something), so i gave it up creams. Just UV lamp. At home, and followed the instructions. And all my rashes are gone after three months of suffering You can see my progress:

Thank you for the response, very helpful. It's seems UV seems to help a lot of people. What are all your views on the skin cancer side of things, does that worry you?

What are all your views on the skin cancer side of things, does that worry you? I'll admit that it was a bit worrisome for me. I did the UV and my dermatologist even suggested -after it ended- I either a) continue by getting out in the sun or b) use a tanning bed. It's not often a dermatologist tells you that. For me, I grew up getting tanned in the summertime as I lived outdoors (not much on tv at the time and no video games, computers, etc) Skin cancer wasn't mentioned much back then. I think it's an individual thing, if your family has a history or if very fair skinned, the risks would be higher for instance. In some cases, UV light or the sun may be less of a risk than some medications. So although it's something to be cautious about and try not to burn the skin, I plan on getting some wonderful sun this summer. My vitamin D is always low so I have to take supplements, I'm also hoping a bit of sunshine will help with that.

I had two spots of carcinoma on my face, got them removed at the time of UV treatment. i just put a spy hat and anti-UV glasses on my face. As for the lamp - it is specially designed for PS treatment, and you start from very short time - I started from 1 minute. It was an option to go get this in the clinic, but their schedule an location were not good for me, so we bought the lamp and have my treatment at home. If you follow the instruction - skin cancer risk is minimized. (Fri-03-03-2017, 20:28 PM)Lauralou87 Wrote: Thank you for the response, very helpful. It's seems UV seems to help a lot of people. I would say when you see your Doctor or dermatologist ask about UV treatment on the National Health as when it's done at a hospital it's monitored and should allay your fears of cancer

What are all your views on the skin cancer side of things, does that worry you? Hi Kat! I am so happy to be free of the ugly rashes! I made everything to avoid skin cancer risks, and now i am clean, i had operated two carcinomas on my face, that started to develop before i got UV treatment for my PS that covered almost of my body... and using the uv-protection can help too. One more thing - this lamp is especially developed to treat the PS condition. it is not like Florida sun :((( |
