Hello,
I’ve been on Taltz for a year and a half........no psoriasis! This is great except in the last 5 weeks I have developed a sore throat, sore ear, coughing, stuffed up and spitting up phleghm. I feel great except this is annoying. Just wondering if anyone if anyone else has had this happen. I’ve had strep tests and blood tests and everything came back negative. Help, I need reassurance! Thanks so much

Hello Susie,

Welcome to psoriasisclub.
Personally I don’t know much about Taltz, but there are a few who are using it on the forum, I hope they will see your post. I see that Turnedlight is on Taltz, she is a very regular visitor on the forum, so I hope she sees your post.

You can easily search for Taltz in the search facility which will give you some hints.

I am guessing your immune system is fighting against some flu-like virus currently. It probably needs more time than normal for that. I guess you had your lymphocytes checked also? If they are ok then at least your immune system is available.

What did your derm say of it?

Cheers and I hope your problems will diminish very quickly.
Caroline

Hi Susie and  Welcome I can’t help with your question but like Caroline says we have a few members using Taltz who might help. The problems you are having are listed as known side effects see here..Taltz (ixekizumab)    And it’s s good idea to put Taltz in the search facility Search to see a list of posts that mention Taltz
Meanwhile I hope you get through this hurdle and can carry on with Taltz without further problems

I will put a note in the newsletter where it will reach a wider audience and may get more responses Groups

Good luck
Jim

If you have had those symptoms for 5 weeks I think you should be telling your dermatologist just to be sure.

Quote:
What should I watch for AFTER starting Taltz?
*Fever, sweats, or chills
*Muscle aches
*Cough
*Shortness of breath
*Blood in your phlegm (mucus)
*Weight loss
*Warm, red, or painful skin or sores on your body
*Diarrhea or stomach pain
*Burning when you urinate or urinate more often than normal

The most common side effects of Taltz include: Injection site reactions, upper respiratory infections, nausea, fungal infections.

Welcome to Psoriasis Club by the way.

*I'll move this thread to Prescribed Treatments For Psoriasis as it may get more answers there.

Hi Susie nice to meet you!
I’ve been on Taltz most of 2018, and at the beginning I had some fungal infection problems including my throat where I could feel food scratching all the way down to my stomach. I had some tablets from the doc and it all seems to have settled though I do get a sticky phlegmy throat every morning which isn’t very pleasant, and inside my ears get a bit itchy but those seem to be the only things.

Could you please tell the name of this medication for the fungal infection. For the past 6 weeks I’ve had sore throat, sometimes scratchy, sore ear and lots of sticky phlegm. I also have a fungal problem in the groin, but doctors gave me medication for this.
I’m in Canada they don’t seem to know much of these new side effects due to the novelty of the drug. Thank you so much!

Sorry to be unhelpful but I can’t remember what they were called, though they would be just what the doc gives for oral thrush. It may have been something containing fluconazole but I’m not totally sure..

Can I ask, was the medication for the fungal groin topical or oral? Because if it was a tablet it should have got rid of any fungus in the throat too. I am getting a bit paranoid about getting more fungal infections - I’ve even been using athletes foot powder, though I’ve never had it, just in case!
