Hi Ever-hopeful I don't want to take your thread off topic ...but I couldn't resist adding my two penneth

I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer around 3years ago and I was taking Fumaderm tablets when I was diagnosed but I continued taking them throughout and continue taking them right up to date
I was treated with Radiotherapy and hormone injections successfully and I'm tested regularly to ensure it doesn't reoccur and I'm still clear of the cancer .... see my thread and this post gives the official line from Fumaderm about the possible risk RE: Fumaderm and hormone injections I think there's probably very little risk as long as your bloods are monitored and dose adjusted as required

This is just my opinion and I apologise for taking this thread off topic

The plan now is to start cyclosporine, if bloods are all ok. I'm trying not to read too much about potential side effects at the moment. I think I'll need to move to a 'cyclosporine anxiety' thread now! Good luck to the rest of the Acitretin gang - hope you see some improvements soon  Wave Wave

Shame to loose you from the Aciretin Gang. It does sound like this stuff wasn't for you. Now you have left the Gang, you do realise that you might have to start the Cyclosporine Clan, I'm not sure there is one Big Grin . Seriosly though all the best with your next regime.

Thanks to both of you Wave . Jim, I will take a look at your thread as am planning to plead with the derm to prescribe that instead of cyclosporine as think there may be less risks to patients who are receiving treatment for cancer. Right! no more 'off topic' now - I promise!!

Best not encouraged in the public boards, as it can effect search results.

Member boards are fine, but best to try and keep to the topic on public boards if possible as it also helps or readers. Wink

Hi kh924, sorry for the late reply!

I had to have a short break from Acitretin over the Xmas period due to illness (Norovirus is excellent for getting rid of the Xmas weight gain BTW) and following starting again in new year, I had some horrific rebound like symptoms. All the plagues on my elbows and knees were peeling like mad and the guttate became inflammed like I've never seen before. However, over the past week it was all settled down.

The plagues on my elbows have smoothed off with the knees looking similar, the guttate is massively improving with the patches on my hands going slightly opaque? I don't want to count my chickens too early but it looks like Acitretin is having an effect. The main thing I'm doing is using diprobase to help with dry skin. The skin dryness is the main side effect I'm having, my lips are a mess and my nose is peeling? I'm hoping thats a combination of the winter weather taking hold in England. I've also had some days where I've felt shattered along with an awful headache/migraine but this has only been 2 days since the new year. No signs of hair loss either  Cool

From reading the forum I noticed you had a positive reaction from Acitretin too. I'm hoping the reaction continues. I'd highly recommend Acetretin to anyone who hasn't tried it yet. I'll try post some pictures if I can. Thanks for asking about Thailand but it's not until March! Can't wait for some sunshine! Thumb

I was on acitretin and It really didn't agree with me. I had a raft of side effects that I was willing to put up with if I saw results, however my psoriasis just got worse and worse while I was taking it.

I was taken off it because my skin was worse than before I started, then a bizarre thing happened. Within a week of stopping treatment my psoriasis completely cleared up and stayed that way for over a year! Go figure.

Now I'm starting on fumaderm so we'll see how that goes.

Good luck with your treatment, I hope it continues to clear your skin.

That's a strange reaction to coming off a drug ... but a welcome one

Let's hope the fumaderm works well for you Thumb
