We've not met yet, I've not been on that long as a member So sorry to hear you are having such a rough time on the Meds.  I dare say a lot of the same crowd are still here and will be welcoming you back with open arms. No apologies are needed everybody has a life to lead but this is the best place to come if you need to off load.
I don't understand why your GP is refusing to do repeat perscriptions - unless its a financial thing.
I am on Acitretin  as well but don't have any of your side effects. Dry lips and sticky palms are all that effect me. I have just finished moulting from the palms and feet not a pretty sight Blush .

To me if you are suffering such unpleasant side effects it may be time for a change to a different one that effects you less

See they beat me to it again Confused

Snigger but your advice is better as you are on acetretin

Thanks guys. Will do as Fred suggests.
I will chat to the man but don't hold out much hope. He always says he will see me in 3 months and gives that amount of tablets but then I don't get an appointment to suit! Madness! The gp is rubbish and will not follow the specialist requests for prescriptions. I have had several 'discussions' with them on the matter! So am stuck with it. Although I support the NHS it is the most badly run organisation ever. If businesses were run in this way there would be none!

Rant over! Lol.

Am off to the land of nod after walking the dog and sorting the feet.

Take care all. Speak to you soon

When I can't get an appointment before my tablets run out I phone the dermatologists secretary and ask if she will get me a prescription and always get them to me on time

Hey peeps!
Well today I went to see the dermotologist. He took one look at my feet and decided to take me off acitretin as there wasn't much improvement and the side effects were bad! To refresh I have flushes, hair loss, severe itching and a fuzzy head (although that could be my ah ?. So he has requested some cream that only the hospital can make (whatever that is), requested another blood test (the one I had last week doesn't give something he wants to see) and he WANs to out me on Ciclosporin.

So I am not to take any more acitretin and do I am expecting another flare up any time soon??. He has asked to see me again in4 weeks but as I don't usually get to see him in 4 months when he requests it I am not holding my breath!

I would appreciate any advice/thoughts on all this. Am worried about these new meds as the side effects seem even worse and it seems I am susceptible to them. They never diminished with acitretin.

Thanks in advance
SB

Hello SB good to see you again.

It would be best to start a new thread in Prescribed Treatments For Psoriasis to ask as it may get more answers than here.

Regards.

Fred.

Sounds strange to me Soosie I can't really advise you but I will tell you my thoughts,

I think it's good that you are off acetretin as it was not working for you
I think the cream they are making for you will likely be either coal tar based or salicylic acid mixture

I don't like cyclosporine.... But it might work for you

I would read up on the possible treatments available then you can discuss the various options with your dermatologist, or at least ask relevant questions about the things you are offered

But these are just my thoughts
