I know the MTX is awful and gives me horrendous side effects which is why I was put on Humira but when I stopped the MTX my skin was out of control as Humira needs time to kick in so had to start it again until the Humira starts helping but that's not happening! I'm hoping by my appointment that I've been on Humira long enough for them to see its not working but if I start a new drug I have to deal with hardly being able to walk until that kicks in and that's if it works at all. I was on Cyclosporin for 6 months or so which helped but then stopped working for me. Feel like I'm going round in circles but not getting far. It's all very well when dermatologist says it's takes time but they not the one suffering constantly and 3 years is long enough.

I agree Methotrexate is a terrible drug, which does seem to work on most people but the side effects are often too much so people give up,......that's what happened to me Confused

Yes it sounds like the Humira is failing hopefully your dermatologist will understand and give you Stelara or even Cosentyx, these days with so many good drugs there shouldn't be any need to suffer, but it seems our system will save money at the expense of our health.

When you speak to them tell them what you want read on here of the available treatments so you will be able to have a proper discussion with him
Read about Stelara and Cosentyx on this link Biological Treatments For Psoriasis

They are very different biological drugs targeting different cells than Humira does .... So you can arm yourself with a few facts that may help you get something better

Sorry, I misunderstood about when you were thinking of trying the aloe Vera! Rolleyes

I hope Humira does help you, I went on it last autumn and it sadly didn't work for me so they stopped in in February and I'm going on Stelara next month.

Good luck Sammikins!

I find water of any type to be an irritant to my psoriasis Confused Salt water however is suppose to be good for psoriasis and I guess some people do see an improvement. We are all different though and what works for some just doesn't work for others.

It's frustrating when treatments aren't working, and 3 years is a long time to suffer... sometimes it's the protocol doctors are forced to follow with treatments (must try MTX first for example) and sometimes it's a matter of trying different things until they find the one that works best for you. I hope you find relief soon.

Hi everyone
I'm back from my beautiful holiday to the big chill? and having the heating on in June!
I've had no sleep for 40 hours and my feet have swollen like balloons on the flight ? I've already had to use 2 steroid creams that I wasn't needing before and on top of that got to moisture all over to stop my tan rubbing off with all the clothes I've had to put on ?. Now time to put feet up and get some zzz??

Glad you had a great holiday ....Yes it's not good weather to come back to....you should have returned to summer .

No sleep for 40 hours sounds like a nightmare.......I hope a long rest will let your ankles  go back to normal

Don't quote me but I think you can change biologicals fairly quickly .....but to be honest I'm not sure but I read of people moving from one too another, and I assume it's a straight switch. But someone here will know better than me

As long as it's at the end of your dose ie you're ready for your next shot then you can switch.

I switched the following with no problems.
Remicade to Humira
Humira to Enbrel
Enbrel to Stelara

I hope you get some good rest Sam and good luck with your dermatology appointment.

Yes, they have left me since February - with nothing, but then there is nothing that works on me anyway - and I am covered in outbreak spots right now.. The process for me was my derm saying 'Humira isn't for you, would you like to try Stelara?' Me saying yes ok, and a letter arriving giving me an appointment in June, so that's four months, no explanation of what was going to happen next.. But hey, maybe four months is quite good - I have no idea!

Sorry only just read these comments as been catching up on sleep ?.  That is a joke to be left 4 months, you need to call your consultants secretary and tell them you can't cope your covered and need an urgent appointment! That's what I did and was seen in a week and given next appointment for 4 weeks instead of usual 3 months cos could see it was out of control! You shouldn't have to suffer that long. Nothing has worked for me either so far but we got to live in hope that something will work.?
Hope you get the help you need ?
