What is fumaderm, is it a cream? I asked about a few different biologics but was told some of them aren't in UK yet. I'm in constant pain with my feet and it hurts to walk,  the itching is driving me crazy! Have u come across anything that's good to stop the itch?

Sam

Hello Sam I think Jim is busy buying us all drinks in the Bar, but these threads may help.

Hi Sam no Fumaderm are tablets and have to be prescribed by your dermatology department, on reflection I'm not sure if they would help with pustular. But they have kept my psoriasis at bay for over 4 years, and I don't get any itching anymore

They would probably help the plaque psoriasis when the pustules calm down......but it's not available everywhere but mention it to the dermatologist

See Fumaderm for more information and Caroline has written lots about DMF the working substance in Fumaderm

This site has a lot of users on Fumaderm but no one will tell you it works fast or that the side effects are easy

So bear it in mind, but I think you may be better with something like Stelara

Keep an open mind ...have you tried coconut oil for the itch ?

Hi
I've never heard of Fumaderm, is Stelara used in the UK?
I use coconut oil on a regular basis both internally and externally, it's great stuff but as I'm constantly getting new pustules the itch is unbearable, it seems to be worse at night and keeps me awake scratching, i feel like a flea carrying dog Sad .

Sam have you tried anti histimines for the itching? I used to cover my feet and hands in the steroid creams, and wrap in bandages at night and during the day if it got really bad.

I have got strong anti histamines but they make me want to sleep all day:( I smother my feet in coconut oil before bed cos I find it better than the creams at keeping feet soft, when I use moisturiser my feet dry out again ten minutes later. Also coconut oil has natural healing properties that stop infection, it save on antibiotics haha.

Good advice Amanda Thumb

Sam you ask ifs fumaderm available in the U.K. ......yes it is as an unlicensed drug and only available through dermatologists. Being unlicensed does t mean it is new it's been used in Germany for around 30years

Stelara is available as well from your dermatologist

The difference between Fumaderm and Stelara is that the first one is using DMF (dimethylfumarate) as a working substance and Stelara is a biological that blocks one of the recipients of your cells that is responsible for the autoimmune reaction that causes psoriasis and it is good at that. Another difference is the price, the latter is much more expensive than the first.  MTX beats everything in price, that is extremely cheap, but then again it is poison. It is like killing a mosquito by hitting it with an elephant.
I have written something on DMF over here Dimethylfumarates and Psoriasis

Pustular psoriasis? Hell yeah......I know exactly how that feels Sam.
On MTX at the moment but used to be on Ciclosporine (sp?).
I think you may have found my (very, very long) thread already.
I use coconut oil and clingfilm so much that people think I have some kind of fetish. Big Grin
Just ask me anything.
BTW, I also have nail psoriasis, guttate psoriasis and what I believe is inverse psoriasis (the one in the creases). I never do anything by halves. Wink
