Help.  I posted my first comment on a thread, but found a few mistakes that I need to correct.  How can I edit a post after it has already been posted?  Thanks.

Hello. To help combat spam you can not edit till you have made 5 posts.

I can make an edit for you though if you would like to remake the post here.

Fred.

Fred,

Thanks.  Could you please copy and paste my corrected post below for my post #156 on alan's thread How I Cured My Psoriasis By Diet

Appreciate your help!

Quote:Hello Allan.  Thank you so much for detailing all you have done to combat your psoriasis.  I am so glad to hear that you were able to return to regular eating after following a psoriasis diet to cure what sounds like leaky gut.  I hope to do the same.  I had no problems with Psoriasis until last year when I got a yeast infection and shortly thereafter developed psoriasis on my eyelid.  It was red, inflamed and silvery skin would peel off.  It was isolated in that area for a while, but in the past month it has developed along my hairline and now on my other eyelid and chin.

After doing research I found an article on how yeast infections could trigger psoriasis with the connector of them being leaky gut.  It seems my yeast infection infiltrated my gut, made it porous and allowed toxins into my bloodstream which caused my psoriasis.  So I plan on using diet to kill the yeast, heal my gut and in turn get rid of the psoriasis.

It sounds like you have effectively healed you gut, as you have been able to return to normal eating and not having any psoriasis flare ups. Your list of foods is similar to what I have found in my research in researching psoriasis (Dr. Pagano), leaky gut and candida diets.

Additionally I have found references to traditional Chinese medicine regarding Candida and the various organs which help to stave off autoimmune diseases (arthritis, psoriasis, etc.) and a connection to what they called being cold and damp.  Mold and fungus love a cold wet environment to grow in so eating foods which are cold and promote mucus are a big no no.  So when eating vegetables and any food for that matter they say to make sure it is not cold, i.e. instead of raw vegetables, the vegetables should be cooked.  Cold foods apparently also put a strain on the spleen which is an important organ for supporting our immunity.  A stressed spleen allows for autoimmune diseases to rear their head.  Another big no no is dairy which promotes mucous.  So ice cream would be a double whammy.  So it makes sense that most candida, psoriasis, leaky gut diets eliminate dairy.

I plan on doing a cleanse for 2-3 days initially then going on a candida diet.  Killing the yeast and healing my gut are the goals, so I will also go on probiotics and then antifungals.  The person who runs the candida diet website said that you should not implement both probiotics and antifunglas at the same time as you may generate a candidia die off and experience a heximers reaction, which are basically flu like symptoms that could knock you on your butt for a week or so.  To avoid that she says after your cleanse, when you go onto your diet, to add probiobitcs first then wait for a week or so to then add antifungals.  The goal is a slow crowding out of the candida with probitiocs and not an abrupt kill of the candida

For my 2-3 day cleanse I plan on using bone broth.  Bone broth has important amino acids which help to heal the gut.  I plan on adding fresh vegetables to the broth like cauliflower, broccoli, onions and garlic, along with turmeric, rosemary, black pepper, and sea salt.  The bone broth with (warm) vegetables is supposed to clean out your digestive system and help implement the healing process.  After 3 days I will start the diet and also add probiootics, including plain unsweetened kefir/yogurt.  Another thing I plan on adding is pao d'arco tea which is supposed to help heal the gut.  Stevia is supposed to be an okay sweetener that I plan on adding to the plain yogurt/kefir/tea, but stevia is not supposed to have maltodextrin, dextrose or sugar alcohols.  I was able to find a whole leaf brand that was suitable.  Then after a week on probiotics, I will add an antifungal supplement in liquid form that has black walnut, oregano oil and also add coconut oil to my diet. I will also make sure that I drink 72 oz of water during the day.  I am also going to eliminate the nightshade family which is really going to be a pain as I love peppers, tomatoes, hot sauce, cayenne :(

I am already pretty thin and don't have much weight to lose, so hopefully my family won't think I am killing myself.  It is going to be a pain having to cook for 3 people that have very different tastes and now with my diet restrictions.  I will be cooking 3 different meals for each sitting.  But I will prevail!

Thanks again Alan, for all your help in sorting out the diet implementation.
