Ralph Do I detect rather a negative vibe regarding methotrexate here
Just don't be too put off by it as although I'm not a fan, and it is a chemotherapy drug, you would be taking far lower doses than a cancer sufferer, as part of his chemo cocktail And it would probably work well Sorry guys don't bite my head off just putting some balance in

Only for myself I know that I will never use it again, or unless in an unfortunate future situation I might develop cancer. One never knows. And sure it probably will work. It is very strong stuff suppressing your immune system. One has to be very careful with the blood values. Keep the dose low and listen to your body.

There is a story on the net of a fellow in his early 60s <He was in his 60s, non-drinker, non-smoker, healthy diet, active.>who died from MTX complications 3 1/2 weeks after his first dose (5*2.5 mg total dosage). Yes, this is an outlier as the chance of death with long term use (~5 years) is ~1/700, but the chance of a potentially fatal episode is ~2% over the same period. 11% of users have treatment discontinued due to organ damage. Despite this, you are twice as likely to die without treatment. I'd rather take my considerably better chance with DMF. Apologies for going off topic, Fred.

I would like to see some of the statistics so I can discuss it with my dermatologist! |
