My consultant also said that Fumaderm prob would not be licenced in the UK until mid 2012, my GP wasnt happy about me getting prescribed an unlicenced drug however a Consultant is a few steps above a GP so he can take a hike, if it helps me then that makes me happy

Quite odd isn't it? That these products, of which already for years is known that it works very well, still are unlicensed.
Maybe because pharma industry pushes other products? And has no interests in dimethylfumarates?
Anyway it is the reason that indeed in the netherlands the patients organization is starting this scientific research.

Hello All Fumaderm users or those contemplating!

I have contributed on this subject previously but not recently. My success with Fumaderm continues with a 1 x 120 mg per day maintenance program. This is after approximately 37 years of psoriasis along with the whole gamut of steroid & topical controls over the years plus Methotrexate and UVB light therapy. I have never had any injection treatments, choosing to avoid this route due to extreme cost plus unknown side effects. My Plaque Psoriasis was severe over the years, so much so that I was rejected from a clinical study due to the severity. I stumbled on some information regarding Fumaderm on the internet, did some research and made this information available to my local General Practitioner who was equally convinced it was worth a try. My therapy with Fumaderm began during August of 2007. I was fortunate not to experience the severe stomach cramping or diarrhea as reported by others, having to endure what could be termed as tolerable exposure during the run-up and peak medication of 6 x 120 mg Fumaderm tablets. Heart burn was a bit of a problem as well but relaxed with use of OTC medication. During the course of therapy and currently, my blood platelets are monitored by my local Doctor.

Because the drug is not FDA Approved, importing into the USA is a problem requiring strict paper-work regimen to diminish the risk of confiscation.

We all know that Psoriasis sufferers do not experience uniform results from any medication but due to my success after so may years, I will always be a proponent and encourage those that are on Fumaderm medication or researching this therapy, to continue in this direction.

Thank you William for your story. 1x120 mg is very well !! Congratulations.
Your story also tells another success on the use of Dimethylfumarates.
Indeed the FDA can be a burden as they are somewhat "over following" the rules. In that sense the european research on dimethylfumarate may also be a stimulant for later more research and acceptance in other parts of the world.

It is also not a fast-acting treatment, so if you're looking for a quick fix, this isn't it.

But I do think it's safer than almost any other treatment out there - and Germany has been using this therapy for over 20 years.

My own dermatologist has had 3 patients who were prescribed Fumaderm for a period of 3-4 years, whose psoriasis symptoms did not return once they ended treatment.. at least this is what he told me.. whether it's true or not I cannot say.. but he is a very good doctor and treats me with the utmost care, so I would have a hard time calling him a liar.

Having been treated with Fumaderm now for 3 months, I can see a slow but steady improvement in my condition. When I started on the old forum, my Psoriasis Score was 37.

Today it is 23.

In the next few months, I aiming for 0.

Sorry John, Isabelle hasn't logged in for a year now. I have sent her some emails before now but no answer, so I can only assume she is either clear or forgot where we are. That's the problem with this type of forum, people don't always come back to keep us informed or to help others. But then the other way of looking at it is, if they are happy then it's fine.

Hello Folks, can I just but in here.

I think this thread is going off topic. It's titled Fumaderm, but you are now talking about Psorinovo and Dimethylfumarates. I dont want to stop your discussion but I think it could end up giving misleading information that people may take to be about Fumaderm.

I may try to tidy this thread up if I can, and maybe stick these posts on Caroline's thread or start another thread about Psorinovo. what do you think?
