Ixekizumab trial

Today was my Fourth session and my first self med at home, worked well. Skin is good, I reckon I'm about 1-2% skin coverage which is better than I have been for many years.

Wow Tom what a difference from the first photo you put on here, you are clearing well, you must be looking forward to a normal life now, without all the vacuuming and white scales everywhere. Not to mention the cracked skin

I'm not sure if I asked before or not... But will you be able to continue on the treatment when the trial ends ?

Good question, Jim, but I think that such treatments as this should be used initially in the severe cases, followed by maintenance with treatments like DMF. My observation is that DMF is very quick at resolving new patches, but it can be a tough drug for tackling a serious case from scratch.

Bill My psoriasiswas fairly severe when I stopped Methotrexate before I got on to Fumaderm and it tackled me brilliantly.
But back on topic I was wondering about the possibility of staying on a trial drug at the end of the trial, as I'm not sure if it has approval yet in the UK or Scotland that do things differently

My doctor says not at this time due to time delays for obtaining and the issuing of licenses etc, he does however say it is being compared with another drug that is already being used and is like the older brother to this one (Ustekinumab ) (if you can pronounce this you are better than me) I am not entirely sure if he means that this will be made available to me or not , A QUESTION WILL BE ASKED AT NEXT APPOINTMENT WITH HIM.

It will be great if you are offered that Ustekinumab ( Stelara ) Stelara (ustekinumab)
Several on here swear by it I'm sure Fred will have a few words as he is on it as is Dave, even Grizzly may be going onto it........ So it has a great track record here

I am not overly concerned at this time as this trial will last until Feb / March 2017 = 13 months, The Ixekizumab is also known as (Ixora S)

Great enjoy your clear skin,with the knowledge that if you do have to come off at the end there's likely to be a drug they can switch you too

Yes Jim is right Stelara (ustekinumab) it's the best thing that ever happened to me, I've been on it over 5 years now and it gave me back my life.

If Ixekizumab can do as well as Stelara it will be a good treatment, but there is also a new kid on the block Cosentyx (secukinumab) which is doing well so it has it's work cut out.
