Hi All

Hope you are all well.

Time certainly flies the older I get. Back for an update.

Not been here for a while as not much to add to previous
updates. This week marked my 3 years on Stelera,
(How quick has that been!). Still working well, doesn’t
clear from elbows or hip at all now but I can more than
live with that ( probably should use my Enstillar more regularly).

I am convinced it has an effect on pigmentation, as still left
with marks every time I burn myself ( oven, iron etc, always
in a hurry   ) skin on face an absolute mess with
pigmentation , just as well Double Wear make-up is out there   .

Due to derm this week coming, going to ask if there is anything
I can do about it, if I can go somewhere and pay for treatment
which would be ok whilst being on Stelera.  My Gp gave me a
private script for a cream which has to come from Canada (I think),
It would cost me about 200 quid, once taxes paid to Uk, but I read
that I can only use it for 8 weeks and the pigmentation normally
returns 3 weeks later   , so not sure if there’s any point.

I will wait and see what the derm has to say.

Time does fly it seems to be going quicker and quicker.

Just wanted to say Save your money. I doubt anything you will get privately will help any better than prescription. But it's your choice.

Hi Angie,

I'd be thinking of topical corticosteroids as a cause of altered pigmentation. You can access a complete article "Adverse effects of topical glucocorticosteroids(2006)" through Semantic Scholar. Personally I would never use steroids as they can be disastrous with long term use. Many people get caught out. I hope it resolves for you.

Hi Angie good to see you again and great to hear that the Stelara is still working after 3years and thank you for coming back and updating, it's a shame about the pigmentation on your face. I hope the dermatologist can give you something to help ,

Had a quick look over that Bill , thank you, and yes alot of that
rings true. Use of steroids for over 30 years and now
virtualy zero has certainly played its part. Quite alot of
terms used I will have to look up , it looks very
interesting, though can not see any remedies offered.
Irreversible damage most likely.

I think that hyper-pigmentation does resolve with time, Angie. I didn't mean to be pessimistic, but if you are aware of a danger you can reduce or avoid further damage. At least you are getting a great result with the Stelara.

I am also a pessimist, which would probably explain why I have
spent more time on concealment than cure. Getting a diagnosis
should probably be my first port of call, but that’s not always
easy as I won’t go out without a lot of cover up on.  This week I
will remember to take makeup wipes to my derm appointment!

Hi All & Merry Christmas

At last derm appointment my derm gave me a script for skinoren cream which is normally used for acne, gave it a try to see if it would help with pigmentation but no luck with it, she did say it was a bit of a long shot.  She said she would write a letter to my doctor with names of others but I think they will be the ones requiring a private prescription.  So pigmentation still rubbish and I think Bill is correct in mentioning the steroid use.

My appointments have been changed to every six months so will discuss again at next one.  The derm has requested for me to get an allergy test done, which is to include cosmetics etc, it will take some time to get an appointment through for it as she says there is a long waiting list. I don’t think this will show anything that has caused the pigmentation on my face, legs etc . She has agreed it is not marking due to the psoriasis inflammation as it would be gone by now.  

Stelera still doing its job, elbows, hip and inside ear still holding on to the P but still happy with the results.

Hope you are all well and now I have a few days off I hope to catch up.
