Just back from dermatologist...

My biggest problem was the language barrier. The doctor was (I'm guessing) Eastern European and struggled a little to communicate. I emphasised as strongly as I could I wanted Fumaderm and I understood clearly that his hands were tied but it was impossible to figure out why. I assume from what I could understand that he had been told not to prescribe it but I'm far from sure xxx

Shame perhaps if you can't get on with methotrexate ( because it makes you badly sick   ) you can speak to the hospital and ask for a change and tell them you would prefer a dermatologist with a grasp on the English language

I know we need trained doctors and the NHS is short of them but it's no good if we can't understand the doctors they bring in from abroad .... Demand better

Funny thing is in the UK you have loads of different leaflets in every hospital department or government building in all the different languages from around the world, yet hardly any of the professionals speak English.  Your doctor has probably just left his job working for my British bank I phoned the other day

Here you get leaflets in French that's it, though most of the doctors will speak English with you if you prefer and they are easy to understand.

In his defence away from the language thing, Fumaderm is still new to the NHS so that is why his hands are tied he has to follow protocol and can not prescribe it till you fail on something else first.

Remember though you can always change to another dermatologist if you're not happy for whatever reason.

Thanks Fred. I'm not loving MTX. It is basically knocking me out for 12 hours after taking it feeling nauseous and light headed (which is fun with a 2 year old bouncing around) but I'm taking it and hopefully will be able to convince my dermatologist to change it next time ;-) xxx

That sounds so familiar to me the side effects can be awful I had to give up on the stuff when I couldn't persuade myself to open my mouth to take them it was a nightmare
Yes tell them of your sickness and tiredness they are well documented side effects. If they are bad they should move you on to something less toxic
In the meantime it may well help your psoriasis I got almost clear on it just couldn't face Monday's and taking 10 little tablets
Are you taking folic acid as well?
