Blimey folks, it is interesting reading your replies. Thank you all very much.  

Well, i think i need to pluck up courage & get my furry backside to the Dr's but i'm putting it off because it is the general election.
That's my piss poor excuse & i'm sticking to it !!!



Paul9, 3 months ago, twice within 3 weeks, i had to go for an MRI scan.


I couldn't do it. I flipped & freaked out.

Never had a problem being closed in spaces before but these bloody things were horrible.

The second attempt, i took 10 mg of diazepam an hour before, still couldn't go into the damn machine.

So, i think if they needed to give me an MRI scan again, i recon that they need to knock me out !!!  

I'll be a wimp & see if blood test can work

Got to agree those MRI scanners are claustrophobic and scary, during my last one I was close to pressing the button to stop it ...... I hope never again, but who knows

I claim bragging rights as I have one every six months.  

But yes I agree they are not nice.

The definition of PsA ia vague: if it can be inflamed, PsA can inflame it. However, axial PsA is rare and is typically asymmetrical. Imagining techniques are a crapshoot. Most Rheumotologist do not know have the staff or skill to do it properly. Symmetrical damage would suggest another disease such as AS or RA depending on the permanent damage. NSAIDS have shown some efficacy in preventing damage in AS. More studies are needed.

A question to anyone whom may know please......

I have read somewhere that you can get Psoriatic Arthritis in the lower part of your spine, lumber region.

How do doctors know that you have PA in the lumber please or anywhere ?

What tests do they do if anyone knows please ?

I ask as i had my coccyx, lower area of my spine removed 11 years ago.
Now, before they were removed, i had no P at all on my back, totally clear but 4 - 6 months after the operation, tiny P spots appeared on my lower back & in time, the P covered my lower back area, spreading upwards & also attacking the 8 inch scar down there if you know what i mean.

Now, with all the pain killing medication etc i take, my back kills me.
I noticed that over the last couple of years, my walking / hobbling is getting worse.
It's bad enough trying to sleep with the pain but i read somewhere that you can get PA anywhere on your body but with the amount of P on my lower back, it made me question if it was possible if i had it ?
I bloody hope i don't have it.

Does a doctor take blood tests etc ?

Psoriatic arthritis can affect any of the 78 joints in the body, although some joints are more likely to be affected than others. About 1 in 3 people who have psoriatic arthritis will have pain and stiffness in their neck or back.
I don't know if any one has had eye problems but I have had an eye condition on and off that is know as "red eye" which I think is related to conjunctivitis in some way but apparently it is caused by the PsA .

Good question Grizzley ,
PsA will eventually have spinal involvement, (if you have been diagnoses with it in other joints) . It is called psoriatic spondylitis. This is caused by inflammation in the spine which can lead to complete fusion - as in ankylosing spondylitis. I have it in L-4, L-5 -are fused and in and cervical area in the neck . I have tried a bio drug which has given great relief . PSA effects any joint in my experience.

Obtain x-rays and See a rheumy if your are having back pain that impedes quality of life. Exercises are helpful, (Therapy), especially water therapy and keeping the core muscles strong is the key to maintain a good quality of life. And really that's what it's all about.

Once per year or so, I get a case of utivitis or whatever. More common with RA and SpA then PsA, but it happens.

I have had some issues with uveitis/conjunctivitis too. My eye dr. explained that psoriasis is a skin disease that can also effect the outer tissue of the eye which is considered skin. She gives me drops and foam to clean eyes. This helps keep the uveitis at bay. Especially during the growing season with so much pollen floating around.

I have had many issues with my left eye not going into detail if anyone interested PM me for more info.
