Cosentyx - There might be hope for me yet...

Thanks for the update Daniel it's good news that you are still not experiencing side effects and your plaques are reducing .... That's very positive news
It is still early days yet and the fact it's beginning to work is very good news
You say you start on the once a month shortly well that will be interesting to hear how well that goes and hopefully we will here of a big improvement in the coming weeks
We now also have the summer to look forward to, and staying positive to my mind is an important part of the treatment...I'm so glad you are hopeful

Yes like Jim said, thank you for the update your information could help others.

Good to hear the stinging wasn't a problem and the injection site bumps are ok, as for your legs, knees, elbow, those site I find can take the longest to clear but it is still early days yet.

Sometimes you may never get completely clear as such as it depends how you look at it, I would class myself as 99.9% clear but if I look closely I can still see where it used to be on the front of my legs and on my back where I had chicken pox as an adult. But it's flat and there is no psoriasis, it's just that the pigment change in my skin doesn't seem to want to revert back to it's normal colour. It's hardly noticeable, but you can see it, so I suppose some might say it's not completely clear.

The loading dose is to make sure you have enough drug in system. If you are seeing improvements now, you should continue to see them as long as you don't miss a dose.

Hope you're doing well, it's been quite some months now since your last update. I'm  hoping you're open to updating the group on how things are progressing on Consentyx as I'm looking to start it as soon as I can.

Thank you for the message.  I actually had to stop using Cosentyx starting in July.  I caught a cold in May (was at a week long conference) that turned into an upper respiratory infection that turned into bronchitis, which has now turned into acute bronchitis.  One of the potential side effects of Cosentyx is increased risk of respiratory infections.  Since treatments for the bronchitis hadn't been working, my dermatologist told me to stop taking Cosentyx until it has cleared up.  I am currently seeing a pulmonary specialist and we are trying some different things.

Although Cosentyx did work for me for a while (cleared up half my legs), the plaque came back just as bad as before after I stopped taking it.

Even when I do get my acute bronchitis under control (I'm hopeful that it will eventually clear up) I do not think I will be going back to Cosentyx.  I've been relatively fortunate in the past to not experience too many side effects with the different drugs.  What has made things even worse now is that I think I have sleep apnea (just took a sleep study) and that in combination with the bronchitis has impacted my day to day living enough that I would much rather have the psoriasis than the bronchitis.

I hope you fair better with Cosentyx, but for me I will keep looking after I get better.

I think I'll give it a go and see how things pan out for me but I will seriously consider what you've mentioned and how things may turn bad quickly and will take all that on board but I do wish you all the very best in the future and here's to both of our healing and goals toward health!

Hi Daniel, and thanks for coming back to update us, what bad luck for you, I hope you recover from the bronchitis soon and can get back to normal life again.
What a shame the cosentyx allowed that infection into your system, as it was beginning to work for you.

I hope when you get over this bout of illness you can find something effective for the psoriasis, I can't say I blame you not wanting to go back onto cosentyx though, I think I would be the same.

I hope when you find a new drug you will come back and let us know how it works for you.
