Has anyone with psoriasis ever been told cats can have a very bad effect on your skin? I have never heard of such a thing from any dermatologist or physician. I was raised with cats and dogs.

I've never heard that before, but I did look it up out of curiosity. I read that some people with allergies and psoriasis have a difficult time, but that seems more to do with dealing with two separate medical conditions more so than one causing the other to be worse. One person (with psoriasis and allergies) who was reluctant to get a pet even said the benefits of having the pet helped with stress. I'm not sure how having a pet could have a bad effect on your skin..... maybe someone else might know something about that.

Not something I've heard. Although some people are allergic to cat hair. I have never heard of it aggravating psoriasis . But all sorts of things act as triggers.... I will be interested to see what others think

I don't think it's related to psoriasis, people could however have an allergy to cat or any pet fur. But I've never heard of any relation in problems with psoriasis and any pets myself.

Plus pets are a great stress reliever, and relieving stress is very good for psoriasis.

So I would say NO Cats can not have a bad effect on people with psoriasis.

I have three Rag Doll house cats so they are in with me all the time and I have had no problems at all, they do however help you with stress apart from when they steal your phone/keys/wallet , little sods.

Yes Jim they certainly are, my daughter has been looking for her mobile this afternoon and even when we rang it we had a job to find it, half way under the bed! They are little sods, two are brothers at 4 years old and the big one is a half brother and is 9 years old. They are more like a dog and will fetch balls but just love to play all the time.
